I'm soooooo Happy for the first time in a very long time I did not binge out.
And i did the 16:8 over the weekend wanted to try this fasting thing , I feel great! I can feel just eating right for this week my clothes fit much better than last week, I will only get on the scale after this week to see if there is a drop. Yesterday was mothers day i have planned my whole week to let a little lose on Sunday , So no bfast the morning and i had a seafood platter for one all grilled and instead of the chips and rice i took veg, yes I know the salad is much better but I've been eating salad whole week, instead of milkshake or gas drinks i had sparkling water. for 3 o clock tea with the family they had cake people a lot of it, and then all eyes on me not eating , so I was fighting with myself the whole time in my head , ok so finally I gave in had one small piece of Malva pudding and custard sharing with my daughter and one of that small jam tarts and 2 glasses of Rose with a lot of ice, this I had in the 3hours sitting with the fam ,I had no dinner.
knowing myself i thought once giving in to one thing you are going to binge out like i always do, eating of everything , but yesterday i did not! had more control, did not feel bad this morning like I always do over a weekend of eating bad.

PEOPLE DOING THE 16:8 diet CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME , DO YOU DO IT EVERYDAY OR ONLY SOME DAYS IN THE WEEK ?

Wow Saige!! What an inspiration u R!!! Well done on holding strong this weekend!! I'm also so scared to even venture to the fasting side, cause of my excercising: I'm building up - going longer and faster - training for a fast 15km run. And I'm so scared of feeling weak. Please do journal about how this week goes for u in that way and then how it affects u're race on Sat! But hats off to u for doing so incredibly well!!!

@ Ibiza i hope this new one is the one , and that the herbal will work out for the health. @ skinnyM - I will try to log the foods, I'm just so busy at work that I don't get time, but I will try , I'm also a 6 + small meals girl and love eating , so far I'm still ok with not eating after 8 at night and 12 the next day , not feeling weak, didn't exercise this weekend but will do weights tonight and see how I feel.I read a guy that did this and he said this diet helped him lose more bodyfat and get more stronger in lifting weights , but I will see as I didn't do well in cycling when i did the Banting, I really need carbs . :-) but different stuff work for different people , this one guy 62 years old , he did 200+ km race with my hubby on the banting diet , only at the last 10km he couldn't anymore , but it was very hot that day as well. alot of people does the 5:2 , don't know if i will be able to do 500 calories on 2 days , but maybe one day maybe on my not active days, will read more about that first.

Hi Black Bee , try start small hahah with 16:8 , before we join the big boys with 5:2 and eating 500 calories on the 2 days. So far i had only my lunch sausage + green salad and beans, small piece feta and a small avo , still not hungry x 2 cups of tea no sugar 1x cup coffee and 8 glasses of water. will see how i feel when i exercise tonight and dinner will be something small, maybe boiled eggs or maybe my porridge that I didn't eat today . hahahah not a big eater at night.

I do 16:8 everyday but sometimes I am a bit lenient and stop eating around 10pm or 11pm and then to counter that I will just start eating at 2pm or 3pm the next day. 16:8 sets ideal conditions to do a fast day. Saige if you do the 5:2 fasting you dont fast 500 calories over 2 days. You eat 500 calories on each of the 2 fast days and you dont do them one after the next. So if you fasted on a Monday then you eat normal on Tues and then you make Wed another fast day. I personally prefer doing 4:3 so that if I decide to have a night out on a Friday night then my week automatically becomes a 5:2 and I'll still be on track :)

Please tell me what the 16:8 fast day is? sorry I'm blond ....

Anneeiid google "16:8 Intermittent Fasting" - it is basically a method of eating whereby you stop consuming food at 8pm and only start consuming food the next day at 12 midday. This gives you a 16 hour fast from 8pm to midday and an 8 hour eating window from midday to 8pm. During the 16 hour fast you can consume water, sugar-free cool drink like coke zero, tea/coffee(with sweetener/minimal milk), green tea, etc.

Thanks you Big Boy Optimus. So the 8 hour eating window you just eat the right foods? I am desperate to loose weight and am battling at the moment.

Eating the right foods is the right way to do it but some people dont follow that rule 100%. 16:8 combined with the 5:2 Fast Diet can give you excellent results that is sustainable but you must take it step by step and make small changes each week to make it an easy transition into that lifestyle. You will make mistakes and learn from them and that is perfectly fine. I saw that you sent me a msg. I'll reply to u there.

Thank you Big Boy , I'm still ok with not eating in the morning , the only problem is I'm not going to the Loo like before can it be due to the calories that i eat is less ? Thank you for all the info that you advise on

It's possible that you have less waste in your system due to lesser food intake. I drink a big glass of water every night before going to bed. By the time I get up in the morning the water passes through and I need to urinate. It's a common practice in the East to drink a glass of water before sleeping and in the morning upon waking up. I drink water after using the loo and weighing myself. Perhaps try doing that.

I do drink glass of water at night before bed and during the night and lemon water in the morning , maybe i must get something for the tummy. nr 1 i do every 30min drink 2.5-3L of water daily that's excluding tea and coffee. nr2 is my prob the past 4 days

My one bodyBuilder friend struggles is that way Saige, when he eats a lot of protein (it can make u constipated). But otherwise, when I eat less, my tummy also has way less to get rid of and I don't go as much as when I eat more...

thanks Skinny maybe its the less eating , I'm not feeling bad or anything will just check how it goes this week.

@ Skinny. Tell him to try magnesium tablets. Citrate is prefered as 'oxide' is less digestible. It holds a bit more water in the intestine so it can ease constipation. Also, it is extremely good for bone health and heart.

I did the 16:8 everyday plus a 24hr water fast once a week for a month. Really enjoyed it and the results were great :-)
