JC_suburbangothcatmom's Journal, 08 February 2024

I am frustrated. I'm averaging 1200-1300 cals weekdays and 1600 weekends. I'm working out vigorously for an hour 4-5 days a week lifting and cardio. I burn 200-400 cals per workout. I feel like I'm doing a good job and getting no loss. I can see the gains in muscle but what is it gonna take to get lean? 800 cals? It's CICO at the end of the day. Advice appreciated 🙏

Just stay the path get some extra steps In Whenever possible but I definitely wouldn't drop that low I don't think it would have the effect your looking for.

Plc, Unity, and OTB, you're all right ✅️ I just need to work with what I've got going and stay the course. I'm 10 pounds away from where I was last summer. I think im just mad because I'm embarrassed of how i look. I know we all have our ups and downs and today is a down. Tomorrow is another day another workout another chance to get back up and keep truckin.

💙 I know it's cliché, but if you can lose and gain weight, you are not that 'number.' If you lose your job, are you still You? Of course. If you move to a new house, are you lost in the old house? Do you become the new house? Of course not. It is the meaning you assign to the number that creates positive or negative thoughts. What if your scale had a glitch, and it spat out that lower number you wanted? All of a sudden your mindset changes. This is a long-term head game. Play the game; but don't forget that it is a game, otherwise, the game plays you. 💙 This is your life. You get to love it.

JC, I could've written this post! I too was staying around 1200 cals, some days I wouldn't even hit 1000.( not good to go that low) I started back ( right after Christmas) to a mostly non processed, high protein, low carb and moderate fat diet. I was strict and stuck to my WOE. I lost 2 lbs and then I stalled for well over a month. I was burning on average about 325-400 cals at gym so I couldn't understand why I couldn't lose those last few lbs. We are in same boat. It's really perplexing. Today I weighed and shock! I finally lost a pound! Only thing I've done differently is adjust my nighttime snacking. Around 7 pm I usually am hungry and even though I would eat fairly healthy snacks, I would graze from 7-9 pm. I changed that to only a snack of raw vegetables around 8 pm and go figure, it worked. Who knows if this what was holding me back but my suggestion is to look at what you are eating , at what times. I know you do CICO but if we eat sweets at night and then go to bed I can see where that may not be best. ( not saying you do though) I also understand your frustration. It's like you are doing all the right things but your body isn't cooperating.. Always support you and wish I had better answers 🩷

Perhaps you still have some small remaining inflammation from your injury. This should resolve as the muscles you had to rest get used to being in use again.

I'm in the same spot. The scale hasn't budged in almost three weeks. To top it off, I hurt my back. I can hardly walk let alone do the minimal workout that my arthritis allows. But I'm just going to keep on keeping on. If I stay the course and keep tellin my 'little voice' to shut up, I'll win in the long run.

I thought I was reading something I would post. I’m in the same boat as you. Even went had all my labs done to see if maybe a hormone issue, thyroid etc. all came back normal. So apparently I’m just not burning more than I eat.dr says my age is not helping I eat healthy no sweets excerise strength train and cardio. She said just stick with it the body will catch up. I’m like WHEN😝but I’m not giving up. Hang In there that’s all we can do is our best at the end of the day we know what we did.💕

Perhaps you have just hit a plateau for a time? I've seen that happen to people when losing weight. Maybe increase the calories for a short time and then go back to 1200 to 1300. My guess is just from a nutritional stand point you don't want to go below that for any length of time.

Totally with u Was working out 2 times per day and eating healthy (same value calorie ranges) Did this for 15 days w out any results Still not seeing the results I feel I should- 30ish days in and only 2-4 lbs down. When I finally did see a change I did change something. It’s possible the change had nothing to do w it -it was just timing of doing good long enough But after 20ish days I started working out in the morning instead of night That’s when I lost the amount I have so far Again, maybe it would have happened anyway, but making a change in time of day if possible might help I know the frustration Kind of nice to see I’m not the only one Thanks for sharing

I don't know what macros you're doing. Those hormone changes will take months to balance but they will! Here's an idea... eat more protein each meal with fat. Not lean protein. You need fat. Work that into your calories. I saw you tried OMAD. I often do two. And some days i totally fast. Going a day no food helps me lower my total calories over the week. Good luck. You'll figure out! And get SLEEP!

If you’re seeing muscle, it could also be that. You’re growing muscle; therefore, your weight isn’t going down. That’s precisely why most fitness coaches say that the scale is never the best way to judge if you’re losing fat or not. I would stay consistent, eat nutritious foods, and try to enjoy the process of becoming whatever that might look like for you. I have found that a significant percentage of it is your mental state. You got this! Health and consistency over looks. You’re beautiful and worth it, no matter what the scale number says.

Wow, I feel so much better seeing all of the support and I'm not alone. I went and got my thyroid checked on Monday and everything is normal, .87. I'm going to lift heavier and keep my protien up! The eating is going well, keeping excess out of the house and no chips. Thank goodness for hot sauce! I know part of it is i have a summer full of festivals where I barely wear any clothes so I wanted to reward myself with some fun outfits which all are basically bikinis 😂🔥. A little body positivity ✨️ will do me good. I think I'll post a pic tomorrow. I love this FS community because I feel comfortable celebrating or griping. Sending lots of love ❤️ Thanks again for keeping me on track. Hugs, Jenny 🌠

Eat more. That’s not enough cals for that amount of activity. Don’t fear good jc. It’s perfectly fine to eat well. Trust the process. It will shock you. My best to you sis. 🥰🥰🥰

I am in the same boat!! This week started to actually log calories and I see I am higher than expected. Could that be it? Also, it does take time for body to adjust. After a month and a half of getting back into things I am finally seeing small improvements. And yeah if you are lifting regularly you may need more calories.

It’s like you described me…I know I gain 2-4pounds twice a month overnight / bloated too depending on my cycle so it’s also water retention and hormones sometimes… my clothes fit better though so something is happening..

Calculate your normal calorie intake and slowly go down, 100 cal per week. Also take measurements and do inbody once a month (on day 5-6 of your cycle) Make sure to consume healthy food and balance out fat/carbs/ fat.
