JC_suburbangothcatmom's Journal, 06 December 2023

8th week in the boot. I can walk in the boot until my next follow up end of December, I will also find out the status of my blood clot then. Bled for a month straight and then got an iud so havent had "fun" for 6 weeks now. Haven't been doing great I need to focus on less food. I know my friends will say it's going to be fine but I feel absolutely worthless and weak. I was making so much fitness progress before this happened and now I don't even want to workout. Just feeling sad for myself and defeated.
146.8 lb Lost so far: 3.2 lb.    Still to go: 11.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
gaining 1.1 lb a week

I wish I could convince you that it’ll be ok. I know because I’ve been through some really tough stuff I can even share on fs. I’ve made it…so I know anyone can. Including you my friend jc. 💝🙏🏻 Hope your spirits rise soon sis. xo

Thanks wifey, it feels selfish to feel bad for myself and I know there's so many other things that people go through that are life changing and horrific. I guess today I just feel bad and in a few hours I'm gonna bounce back. Sending love my friend ❤️

JC, I feel your pain! It's miserable when you work so hard to be fit and something derails you. It's amazing to me how fast we can lose muscle. People were telling me that muscle memory will kick in when workouts return but I'm doubtful. I just try to do what I can. Unlike you, I can walk and do some workouts( modified of course) It's frustrating too only be able to lift 5 lb weights when I'm used to triple that and more. I just keep telling myself it's temporary. Are you able to work out your upper body? That will help you mentally and physically. I totally understand where you're at and offer my support!🩷🩷

We understand. I'm old so I've suffered through a lot of illness and injuries and they are almost always a rude interruption to life as we want to live it. Some interruptions are temporary and some permanent. You and your body will learn to work with them and around them. Do what you can with what you have. Work on upper body if you can. Set some small goals and attain them.

There's nothing wrong with feeling bad for yourself. Sometimes days or life just suck. No other way around it! As long as we don't let feeling bad for a day turn into a week or longer. I wish I could help fix this for you! But I'm sending well wishes for better days ahead. It's no fun... having no fun🙃

I went through a treatment for 3 months. You know how much lifting was... basically, life for me. I was out of the gym, no energy, no desire to do anything and couldn't hold down food. Well, fast forward to a couple months ago and I've reintroduced lifting! I'm still not gonna be pulling my 450# deads anytime soon, but I see the numbers going up. So, yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. Muscle memory is a wonderful thing and you WILL get it back, so don't let that be a concern. Feel free to miss it though because the withdrawals are much more than physical (which is probably why you're bummed tbh). Just watch your calories and protein, and EAT YOUR F-ING WHEATIES, and you will indeed be fine. For now, rest my child. Nah-must-atay, amiga.

I was out for ~8 months. When starting back up, I got a quick reminder how wonderfully debilitating DOMS is lol

I am with Wifey here. Feel the same . I don’t normally post what goes on in my life when things go wrong but honestly, I’m recovering from a head on collision with fractured ribs and it’s been eight months so far but I’m getting back to it. It is extremely frustrating. You gotta understand that it’s only temporary. Keep that in mind and the physical therapy will kick in and you’ll be stronger than ever..❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Diana yes!! It's the opposite of where I started, the knowing what you can do and being forced to lift less and feeling less from the workouts, where it was so therapeutic to sweat now it's hard to break a sweat doing the minimal exercise. Thank you for the support!!

Thank you Morticia, it is temporary! Feels like an eternity when someone else tells you what to do, part of the frustration is feeling like a wounded animal behind the pack. I think I'll be out of the boot by Christmas. Already trying to wiggle move and stretch it to get ready for the comeback!
