Diana 1234's Journal, 18 November 2023

Holding on to the 130s...I'm doing ok since surgery . I'm 12 days post op. I've been walking almost everyday. I'm up to a mile a day now and am cleared to go back into the gym starting Monday. I will start doing the treadmill (slow walk) and maybe some lower body band workouts and see how it goes. No upper body yet. I still get really tired. (that's my biggest complaint) I go for wound care on Tues. Steri strips are itchy...most days I feel good and am pleased with where I'm at in this journey.👍

I'm so glad your recovery is going well!!! ❤️ You'll get back to it when the time is right. Listen to your body rather than a set date. If you still don't feel ready by that date, hold off a little longer. I know you know all of that, but it is the mother hen in me to say such things out loud. 😏

Take it easy, if you are getting tired. I am impressed with you walking a mile. I may be doing 1/4 mile. I hate the treadmill and exercise bike. So walking outside is what I want to do. Will they take stitches out Tuesday?

Fritzy, I was doing about 1/2 mile until yesterday. I decided to try a mile and I did take it slow. Treadmill etc aren't my favorite either. It's so boring... I take a nap almost everyday. I'm not sure if they will need to take out stitches. I vaguely remember the Dr saying something about disolving stitches but not sure. I do see the knot though. 🩷🩷 Zenus, thanks. I am trying to listen to Drs orders and also listen to my body. Today isn't starting off too great. I woke up at 130 am and only slept on and off till about 430 and finally got up. I'm pretty tired now. A nap is definitely in my future! I'm making lasagna for my wonderful Italian husband as a thank you for all he does for me He has been great! Don't really have the energy but I promised so I'll go ahead with it💜💜💜

Geez... running on that bit of sleep is rough enough without anything else going on. I understand the promise. It's great to have a help-mate in your life! Some of us are so lucky! I hope your day improves! 💜💜💜

Oh goodness Diana I think those Steri-Strips should come off. Here after 10 days, you can remove them. How long do they think you should keep them on???

I know the stitches I had when my gallbladder was removed were dissolving. It's pouring down rain right now and may rain most of the day. So no walk unless there's a break. Lasagna sounds good!

Wifey, They are starting to curl a bit but I was told to wait 2 weeks. They told me to trim if needed. 💜

Fritzy, we were supposed to get rain here too but so far we had only a slight downpour on Thursday. Formula 1 race is going on this weekend and it's crazy here. So many people... We stay away from Strip anyway unless we have company but even local places are crazy busy!🏎️🏎️🏎️

That is awesome getting a mile in and congrats on maintaining your weight. I am glad recovery is going well. Can you tell a difference with the new device?

Diana I would still be very conservative on the upper body work, such as stretching bands. Suture lines are still pretty weak at 10 days.

Diana, I heard the Oakland A's are moving to Vegas. So sad .I grew up in the Bay Area and remember when the A's won the world series 3 years in a row in TBE early 70's. One year I went to at least 20 games. My sister and brother in law used to have season tickets. Lucky Las Vegas!

Kenna, no upper body per Dr until week 4. I was gonna use bands to do a squats, leg lifts, (side and back) lunges, etc. First walk on treadmill and if I'm not too tired I'll continue and use bands. 🩷

Yea, but Fritzy, it puts a whole new spin on “going to the ball game”, wink, wink,. I’m due for a Vegas trip if I could stop having to do home repair and upkeep for a while. Something big broke three weeks in a row..

RPL, I don't feel any difference in new pacemaker versus old one yet. They haven't adjusted settings for sports mode yet. To soon after surgery. If I was able to get heart rate doubled then I would probably see a difference but right now the highest I've gotten my HR is to about 80. They are doing a device check in Dec or Jan and perhaps by then I can get it adjusted.

This is GREAT NEWS!!! So glad you are able to walk and begin light WOs. Inch by inch, mile by mile, you got this! 😁

Thank you Morticia🩷🩷 Stormsgirls, Yes! I'm trying hard to take it slow but truthfully I'm bored. Patience isn't my strong suit!!😀😀

Diana, you are so much the opposite of me in that one thing. If my doctor says "take it easy", I'm like " forever?" But even me after 3 weeks am getting bored. I emptied one of the drawers from the master bath vanity and totally cleaned it out. Have several more bathroom drawers to clean out.

Patience is hard, I get that. I got bored during my wisdom tooth extraction!! Hang in there! :)
