Good Morning FS Family! I have had a great week! A no fuss, no stress fast and a general all around sense of well-being. I dropped 3.5 pounds and since the change of fat to protein ratios, I have less joint pain and more tolerance for chilly weather. Which is a good thing since it has been both wet and cold here this past week! Upcoming celebrations, yesterday was our 38th Wedding Anniversary. We will be going to Statesboro for a steak dinner at Longhorn 🥰. Then we have Thanksgiving, we usually go to Coleman House on Thanksgiving, it's become a tradition for us since I started working at the Post Office. We only get Thanksgiving Day off and I always have to go to Twin City to help with the extremely heavy load of packages and mail that arrives the day after Thanksgiving. I have to be there by 6:30 AM and I stay there till 11 then head for my post office. That leaves very little time for cooking and cleaning so Coleman house puts on an unbelievable spread of traditional Thanksgiving dishes in a buffet style setting, you have to make reservations and they have 3 seatings, scheduled two hours apart. It's a beautiful Victorian Home that has been converted to a BNB and the entire experience is fun, relaxing and best of all, no dishes or leftovers to contend with. I'm going to have a little of everything, I'm going to go overboard, but I should be able to fix the gains on my next fast. So that's the plan, wish me luck! I am going to try to make it through the eating Holidays with as little gains as I can...but there will be gains. If I go off the rails I have promised myself I will come in here and scream for help rather than tackle the struggle alone as is my usual M.O. You guys have a fast-tastic day. Time for some food 😁

Good morning Debra, first of all, I’m very happy anniversary to you and your significant other. Yes, your work schedule does sound pretty hectic, but I’m so glad that you were able to fit in the festivities and that sounds like an amazing plan. You should post a picture or two may you have a restful and happy and healthy Thanksgiving so happy for you that you’re having a great time 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️

Thanks OG! I have already planned my order at Longhorn Steakhouse, I'll be having the 12oz NY Strip, a cesar side salad and a loaded baked potato. That takes me over my carb limit for the day, but I plan to eat it in that order, so there is a good chance I won't have room for the entire baked potato, the same plan is in effect for Thanksgiving, I am going to frontload the protein, then have small tastes of the rest of the spread. I'm counting on stomach shrinkage, swallows of unsweet tea between courses to give me a fuller feel. Perhaps the pre-planning will prevent a total blowout and I won't feel deprived because there is nothing off limits for that two hours. Hubby is going to allow me to select the desserts and we will share them so nothing is wasted 🥰 he is such a good egg.

Oh, and of course Thanksgiving is on a Thursday, which is my break-fast day, so there will be plenty of stomach shrinkage. I am only planning to intake my AM green drink prior to my two hour eating window 😁

No need to go “off the rails” you can still enjoy the things you like, just eat smaller portions. That would be a win

Thanks guys for all the support! I am sure I will be eating trigger foods so I need all the support I can get to immediately go back to fasting after feasting. Dr. Fung says Feast, then fast. I know it seems like I skipped a special celebration by continuing my fast on the day of our Anniversary, but at the end of a work day, and it's dark when we get home, it seemed like the thing to do...just move the celebration to a more convenient day and time, he seem relieved when I suggested it and he's all for heading to Coleman House on Thanksgiving, he is totally in love with their sweet potato casserole and jumping through hoops to put a traditional TG meal on the table for two people is simply too much work and too much food left over to tempt the both of us. He's jumped on board with higher protein when I showed him how much he should be getting compared to what he actually eats. So in the past two weeks, he's also got less pain and more energy for the hard physical labor he is doing remodeling a kitchen. I have also noticed that when he goes and has a steak n egg lunch, he's not grazing as much in the evenings...which is great for me. It's a head-snap for me when he starts crunching on something and it makes me want to do it too, even though I am not hungry. I'm making him track his protein then at dinner I cook a portion of a size to fill in the deficit, or I make him a protein shake with berries or chocolate. He says he feels a difference too. I see him getting up and puttering around with things on his to-do list...that he makes, not me instead of parking in the recliner and remaining there. Tiny improvements, tiny steps!

That's great anecdotal evidence for more protein 👍

Terrific drop! Sounds like a plan! Months ago, I was researching keto dishes for Thanksgiving. I was determined not to indulge. Since then, my mentality has changed a bit. I have been working on the "all or nothing" way of thinking. I seem to be doing pretty well with it. I had also thought about going out to avoid leftovers, but I don't know of a place that can homemake what I want & if I'm going to indulge, I want it to be worth it. So, I am now planning on buying to-go boxes to send any leftovers home with visitors. I will definitely be having air-fried turkey, homemade chicken & dumplings, homemade dressing, cranberry sauce, baked mac-n-cheese, and homemade pineapple pudding.

great job on the drop and Happy anniversary, and I don't blame you there for going out to eat as well as me and my husband only two of us here and lots of food we put in to go container boxes and send it to his mom and step dad because we usually only eat one time out of a pot of chili and then rest goes to someone else or to the trash. I want just a homemade meatloaf and mashed potatoes and stuffing with a roll for Thanksgiving but I don't know if that's what we are cooking he may want a ham since he doesn't eat turkey.

Kenna, when you are a carb and sugar addict, and you get triggered, just like an alcoholic taking a drink, you go on a binge, I have no intentions of going off the rails, but if I do I am not doing a shut out and fighting with it by myself, there is a ton of non-judgemental support here, and there is no reason to feel or hide from the shame and guilt a binge brings with it. If you know the demons....say amen! If you don't, you are blessed beyond measure.

I’m really sorry for you Debra and for all the others here who seem to be dealing with that issue. I certainly hope you all find the wherewithal to kick that demon to the curb this year.
