Diana 1234's Journal, 21 September 2023

I am shocked!!!! I thought my weight was up for sure because I wasn't working out and I was at my sister's, who has a very different WOE. We were there helping her set up her new house. I ate ok during the day but dinner was always difficult. Towards the end of my visit, I started cooking ( she eats a lot of fast food) so I could control what we ate. I am back at home now and today I'm hitting the gym. Still can't do full weights but will at least do treadmill and a round of light weights. Need to work my abs as I feel "fluffy"

I had the same experience last year at my family's Christmas gathering -- totally out of my normal eating habits, but came home no heavier. I think after you've been consciously controlling your intake for long enough, it becomes natural to moderate. It becomes your default mode.

Good work handling the challenges of travelling and staying with family.

Writing, I think you are right. I was eating very low calories, (which isn't good) during day in anticipation of nightly meal. In fact my nutritionist texted me and asked if I was sick because I was not eating like I regularly do. I am happy to be home and plan on having a big steak tonight to help up my protein! 🩷👍

Look at you under 130! You have to be thrilled. It can be so hard staying at someone else's house.I often can't sleep and you never know what TBE meals will be. I actually have more difficulty when I have people staying with me. I don't really eat "meals" and know my guests will need more than cheese sticks and nuts. We usually go out for meals and I try to have coffee available and breakfast food in the house. If you were helping your sister with her new house that can be quite an activity. You may have been getting more of a work out than yourealized. I got in 15,000 steps yesterday just doing things around the house, moving boxes, pictures, etc

TBE is what my tablet always substitutes for "the."

Well done on the drop, especially under the circumstances.

I am so glad to hear that!! Also happy that you are home and can control your meals. I am the same way. We have a vacation coming up which I am totally looking forward to but I also know when I get back I will be ready to get back to my planned meals and WOE!

Diana!!!!! Isn’t that a fun surprise! Bet you feel light on your feet even thru the fluffy feeling. I agree with everyone. It’s much easier to control WOE in our own homes. I read somewhere recently that kettlebell are actually more effective at working and sculpting the abs than crunches and situps. Thoughts?

It often feels good to go somewhere else, but it always feels good to go back home. It was great that you didn't gain as much as you expected and are upping your protein and wishing good news on the CT scan. You are being brave! Praying for the best results.

Thanks everyone! I really, really appreciate your comments! I wish I could respond to you all individually but after being gone I have a ton of stuff to do. I was on phone all morning setting up appts, dealing with insurance company's, etc. Add on laundry, washing floors and cleaning. Yikes!! I never made it to the gym..

It may be all the activity, and you may still be losing water weight from surgery. All good things.

YOH, I have not used kettlebells for my abs but I could see how that might work. Have to look into that more. I do lots of lower ab work. My waist is pretty small but I have that lower belly thing going...ugh..🩷

@YOH - I definitely think kettlebells help with the abs because you are using your core to get the momentum going. Your arms are just there to hold on and I have used 57# kettlebells and you really have to engage to get the kettlebell up! Plus it is a good cardio workout for the heart. I ate too many tootsie rolls at the home coming parade yesterday and my stomach was not liking my kettlebell swings yesterday. 🙁
