It is the disruption from the normal routine that really tests our eating disipline. But, one bad weekend won't derail you.

every other weekend with them is routine, but i always get tempted when I'm feeding them. this weekend would derail me because I'm cutting hard until Tuesday

Would you consider feeding your kids healthy whole foods instead of processed snacks (fruit instead of chips, etc.)? That way they get used to eating healthy and you can keep the fridge and cupboards free of temptation. No need to have separate diets.

Kaylin, what helped me is serving up a snack/meal that falls in line with my eating plan FIRST and then serve them next. even if I hadnt eaten yet, my healthy choice is ready to go/snack on while cooking/serving the kids.

Yes I’m with bananas. Do it, and report back

Sometimes it's unavoidable; change (especially food change) takes time for lil kids. My oldest with autism - it would be truly traumatic if we took away all his "safe foods/fixation snacks"... He eats what we cook for the most part. We have introduced veggies that hes warmed up to more regularly but it has to be nel separate dish instead of on his plate. If it's on his plate, non mangia. No eat. For my toddler, we offer what we cook now, instead of the whole piatto being hot dogs/Chicken nuggets, he has less of them with what we made. There was big resistance to seeing unfamiliar foods!! "Eat your hot dog, but when they are gone, then give the pasta a brave try". The school doesn't tailor their menu for each individual kid, so we stopped doing this for dinner too.

they already eat mostly sugar free, and they love fruit. i was a picky eater as a kid, if my parents tried to feed me healthy options, i wouldnt eat. now, i eat most healthy foods. i wont pressure my kids into a specific diet because of my own experience, but i do give them healthy options (my son loves zucchini lasagna, my daughter loves eggs and bananas) etc

That's awesome Kaylin. My Toddler really loves fruit too. My oldest samples veggies bit doesn't like fruit. It's funny!

I'm confused, then. What is tempting you when you feed them, if they're eating those healthy options? There's nothing to derail you if you only have nutritious food in your home.🤔

they eat some junk food. I'm not looking for advice on what they eat.

i didnt say anywhere that i only have nutritious foods, nor does sugar free imply that its a healthy food. sugar free ice cream and cookies, are still ice cream and cookies.

That is true, Kaylin.

Same here, only it’s me and hubby. We love eating out and spending time together. The kids will always remember these moments with mom.
