I always expect a slight increase after a trip. I usually allow myself a few more treats. As long as I get back to normal when I get home the extra lbs. melt away. I'm positive yours will, too.

Sherrye, I agree, I usually tend to be more relaxed about food choices while on vacation. I'm sure I'll bounce back!💜

Have you met yet with the new female doctor that your physician recommended? Would certainly recommend requesting a registered dietician, too, since you have multiple health issues that may increase the number of foods that are not recommended. Not saying ditch your nutritionist, but rather welcome a new member to your health team. For an anti-inflammatory diet, fiber from lots of fresh cruciferous veggies is key to meet the minimum 25g. Are your FS settings tracking your fiber intake?

JB, I feel comfortable with my nutritionist as she will be graduating next semester and will be a licensed dietician. She does so much research on the types of issues I have. She specializes in auto immune issues and foods that help combat issues with those. She has recently become involved with cancer patients and their specific dietary needs. She is working with the Cancer Society of America on this. I am trying to get appt with new female Dr but it's closed today. Will have to wait till tomorrow.

Advanced congrats to your nutritionist! Pretty cool that she still sees you as a client while she's earning her master's degree and interning at a hospital. Does she ever review your food log here on FS?

Jb, Yes she has complete access to my FS food log . She checks it often and she will text me when she sees questionable choices and congratulate me when I have success. She will often suggest alternative foods if she sees something that might be over processed. She is truly a wonderful.

I take it her new diet for you gets rid of all the deli meat, sausage, brats, steak, etc. Does she want you to substitute fish, chicken or beans? My mom is on an anti-inflammatory diet for her arthritis, and she basically went pescatarian (dragging my dad along, since she's the cook 😁🦞🦐🐟).

Hi there. Curious to know if your nutritionist is through Fat Secret?

Lesleag, No. She is local to where I live. 💜

JB, yes most of what you mentioned will be gone and I do count carbs so beans are allowed but not to often. It's more about unprocessed and more foods high in antioxidants and anti inflammatory properties will be included.

There's always room for strawberries, red cabbage and asparagus! I know you're mindful of the macros concerning protein and carbs, but at some point the micronutrients in mushrooms, Brussel sprouts and pomegranates become more important than staying rigid. Luckily it's summertime, so these should be available no matter where you guys travel to.

This just hit the news, so if you see your new doctor this week, maybe ask her about testing for it (HMPV): https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/29/health/human-metapneumovirus-explainer-wellness/index.html

Diana and Jb i just read about this HMPV virus. I try to stay aware of respiratory illness issues for myself and yet have never heard of this. They say it closely resembles rsv. When my girl was 3 mo old she caught rsv and was very touch and go in nicu at children’s. I remember it vividly. This is a little scary.
