I finally convinced Hubby to help me support the Pyracantha bush instead of removing it. Due to the weight of it, the bush tilted forward during a snow storm a few months ago and needed some attention. After some arguing back & forth (as is not unusual when we're deciding how much to prune a bush . With Hubby too much is actually not enough 😐) It did get a pretty severe pruning but will grow many new branches as the Summer progresses. It had fallen onto the Knockout rose bush in front of it, so now the rose bush can properly leaf out. It looks a little sad right now. I had gotten into a pruning frame of mind and decided the huge Rosemary bush in the same area could use a trim. It had spread out sideways quite a bit, so I shaped it up.

Hubby was adding some of the wood we hadn't used for the fireplace back to the firestack outside when he came across a huge black snake curled up in the wood. Since it's one of the good snakes, he just encouraged it to burrow further into the wood pile. After that I was moving a bird house I had moved earlier to get easier access to the Pyracantha bush. It had been sitting on a stool, purely for decoration. A Wren flew out when I picked it up & I discovered a nest inside. After the recent snake encounter we decided it would be better if it was hung on a hook, so Hubby got it hung in the rafters of the cover of part of the deck. There were no eggs layed yet, so we'll see if the Wren decides to use this nest.

I cleaned up all the branches from the bushes then decided to have lunch while reading outside. It is a nice warm day.

Just about time for our afternoon walk.
