😃 The "Water gain" went away.
It is pretty hot & supposed to stay that way for a few days. Thankfully, in the shade it's bearable. Yesterday I used our battery powered fan to create a breeze while I did my workout. I know I can go indoors but I like being outside in nature. Book Club started at the time we normally walk in the afternoon so I didn't get a full walk but I decided to walk over to our neighbor's & back. She was hosting. It did include the walk up our drive & then back up hers on the way home.

We had planned to gather by the river but decided to have cocktails on her screened porch then eat dinner in the dining room, due to the heat. Thank you ceiling fan!! I nibbled on the appetizers....some pub cheese & crackers & cream cheese with hot pepper jelly....but only had a little. The main course...Low Country Boil.... a green bean dish, a green salad with plums & watermelon with a dressing & mint were all yummy. The only thing I was disappointed in was the corn on the cob...a bit tough. I've learned to cook it just enough it stays tender. We had Sangria to drink & I had just a taste of the expensive bottle of red wine one of the girls brought. Her husband used to be a distributor & she said their wine stash at home only included bottles of the more expensive stuff, right now. She said she wanted to share this bottle with people she loved...us 💕 Dessert was the Madeleine cookies, the Madeleine Brownie combos, strawberries & Key Lime pie. I had 1 cookie, strawberries & a sliver of pie. The platter of cookies was in the center of the table & I kept eyeing them....thinking just 1 more....but I resisted.

Hubby came over & hung out with our neighbor's husband & one of the other girl's husbands in his basement bar. After everyone else left the 4 of us had a nightcap & visited for a bit before we walked home.

I wanted something to eat yesterday afternoon after exercising. I was hot so a frozen lime Outshine bar hit the spot...with 1 cup of Smart 50 Cheddar popcorn. 110 calorie "lunch".

I sprayed our white Adirondack chairs with bleach cleaner & rinsed them off. They get stained with all the rain...not sure why. I also rinsed out the birdbath & refilled it with nice, clear water. I know our birds will appreciate that. I sat down to cool off & they're flitting about all around me 🐦🐦 I'm feeling lazy, but I should get up & do something...like exercise.

I took out Salmon for dinner. I have a nice big tomato I picked from my plants so I think some kind of salad is in order...or I could just slice it.

Hubby joined me on the deck while I was having my 2nd cup of coffee. He made a silly, sarcastic comment along the lines of "So this is what we've come to...this is the best we have to look forward to". I told him I thought if that was the case, we were pretty lucky! I was thinking of Fritzy's last journal I read about having to keep her thermostat higher due to crazy high electric bills & her fear of the fires burning not too far away. I feel really spoiled. I turn our thermostat down to 70 at night, upstairs & turn the ceiling fan up a notch cause I like it cold for sleeping. We actually have 3 units for heating/ cooling....upstairs, downstairs & a separate cottage & our last bill was $172. We don't really have an extravagant lifestyle but I think we're truly blessed to have the life we do.

So I dawdled a little bit....puttered in the garden....til some insect bit me, in spite of rubbing myself down with bug repellant 😒....made myself a snack, read a bit in Southern Living magazine. I finally came out & exercised....brought my fan out again. I did get an idea while perusing Southern Living. There was a recipe for crab cakes....I'm going to make something similar using Salmon. Hubby just cut the grass. Love the smell of fresh cut grass ☺💚

I have a time of day plan. I keep it at 80 during peak rates (day until 8 pm), but 70 overnight. It's always still 80 when I go to bed, so sexy beast that I am, I go to sleep with a frozen water bottle in a sock in the small of my back.
