Those steroids will really do you in. I don't think it is because of what they are meant to do or was given for. I talking about the effect of them. makes you hungry. At least that is what they did to me. Now I find myself asking when the Dr. wants to give me anything. That is what I want to know. yes It seem like I had no control over my eating. But I hope you can find the strength to pull through it all. So that you can get back going in the direction you seek. We are here to support you. You can do this. We can do this. Take care of yourself.

So sorry you are going through all that. I have no idea about medications in general and won't pretend I do. Just want to offer my sympathy and prayers that you can move on from that and feel better. Hang in there!

You can feel the frustration, the anger in your words. HOWEVER, your will and strength also come through. Some days we just need to coast, but that doesn’t mean we are braking. Every day is another chance to think about why you started this journey. May your day tomorrow be wonderful!

My heart is with you.Can you try some "volume eating" for a while? A cup of broth, hearty cabbage soup, salad or an apple before each meal? Basically fill up half your stomach before you start eating a meal. It's really helped me. That and eating unlimited amounts "free foods" like green beans, broccoli, red bell peppers, etc. I eat my salads out of a huge serving bowl. 🤣 I want to feel FULL so I'm not tempted to snack. There's no room. If I'm tired of salad I'll do a fajita bowl. 1/2 c rice, 6 oz chicken, then HEAPS of grilled onions and peppers. Lots of mexi seasonings, lime juice and hot sauce. I'm so full of veggies I actually don't want anything else. I hope you have a better day tomorrow 😘

You sound frustrated, isolated and distraught. Don’t give into those feelings. Sometimes when we hit rock bottom emotionally it’s more important to nurture our soul than worry about what a silly scale says. Getting to the healthiest version of you is more than a number. It’s your total well being. Focus on the other ways of wellness right now. Emotionally. Mentally. Be as happy as you can be. Treat yourself well. Soak in a tub. Read a book. Whatever makes you happy. Steroids do a number on all of us. Allow for that. You obviously need them. You can’t control that. So control what you can. That starts with taking care of you then work from there. Everything will be alright. 🙂

Try to think positive. I know how it is to be on meds that make you gain weight and how it feels to be upset because you want to lose but keep gaining. Just get up and go for walks so your body doesn't hurt too much. the more you sit the more you will hurt. Good luck on your journey to becoming a healthier you. you can do it. Bless up.

In this time you can be angry sad scared about the scale. And you can be positive and hopeful about eating healthy. There will not be a weight loss reward for eating healthy right now and that is so hard. But there is still a health reward. If you have a meditation or prayer practice or a reflection practice consider spending time opening your heart to what health without weight loss could mean in this time ❤️❤️❤️❤️

So overwhelming, isn’t it? They give you medicine that’s ultimately supposed to help you and it feels like it’s doing everything but. Chances are good the weight gain is mostly water, but it still feels like a true weight gain. Steroids mess with your blood sugar levels and the result can be water retention and joint pain from the water-logged tissue. If I can make a suggestion, try to go lower sodium (Mrs Dash or a potassium based seasoning) and watch hidden sugars (sauces can be a culprit). If the steroid therapy is going to be long term, talk to your dr about trying a different one that might have fewer side effects. Lastly, do things that get good endorphins flowing - watch a comedy or inspirational movie, call an old friend or family member who makes you laugh, walk barefoot in the grass (grounding has been studied and found to have a positive effect for people with inflammation), do some gentle stretching exercises, or pass along a kind act to someone who needs it. You’ll get thru this 😉

Thanks everyone for your encouraging words. I hope to get threw this. I have salads in the house and some fresh veggies. I do plan on coming back from this. I know that I'm not a quitter because I fight Lupus every day. I came back from strokes to learn to walk and talk again. So, this too I will conquer! Thanks again 😊🤗

It's probably the steroids and steroids also make you want to eat more. Once your done with them you should be okay

Like Jheeden said, there are some things that are out of our control. Unfortunately, this is a tough one to deal with. My mum was on steroids for a while for her illness and they did contribute to problems managing weight, so yes, I believe your struggle is greater than that of someone who doesn't require this medication. All you can do is give yourself a break, do your best within your current circumstances and know you are not failing.

I've been there with the steroids they help with pain and other issues then you put on weight but you hang in there!! Try moving a little more to counteract the side effects there's a lot of easy utube exercise videos to try or just walking if you can. Maybe try some crushed ice with lemon, berries or both add some coconut sugar or your choice of low calorie sweetener or flavoring. The ice is good to crunch on so you don't eat everything else in sight and satisfying. Hope this helps sending virtual (((hugs)))!❤

Yes, prednisone does that - be well, it will pass once you move off the medication
