We heard an acquaintance (a good friend of a friend of our's) had been diagnosed with Covid yesterday. Today we got news he's been hospitalized & is on a ventilator.
We also heard that another friend who has been pretty much behaving as if all is normal said he wouldn't wear a now required mask at Walmart (our only local grocery store)....he would drive to a town a few miles away & shop at the grocery store there. Both Kroger & Publix....our other options....have announced they'll require masks starting next week. Our friend is in his 70's & is being treated for heart issues & still is very cavalier about it all. Hubby & our neighbor (friend) have refused multiple invitations to golf or hang out with him. Hubby & I ran into him & his wife in town in June when we were going to have dinner. They invited us to join them & another couple for dinner & Hubby declined....said we wanted to eat alone as I had just returned from my Dallas trip. He really didnt want to sit at a table with them & be potentially exposed. It is sad we can't socialize like normal, but I wish he'd wise up & be more careful. I told Hubby, he'd probably end up being fine in spite of it all 🙄

Hubby cut the grass (our little patch at the side of our house...the rest of our property is "natural") today & I got into the garden beds along the side of the house & trimmed & pulled out a bunch of volunteer growth...baby nandinas & other vines & stuff. We have vinca planted in there along with Nandina, a Knockout Rosebush & a Pyrecantha. It wraps around to the front of the deck where I have herbs & assorted flowers. It's hard to avoid all the volunteer stuff that just sprouts up. It got hot & I really worked up a sweat. Hubby had finished mowing & weed eating long before I finished 😐 It was in the 90's today.

Dinner tonight is a tossup between pork chops & Pizza.
143.0 lb Lost so far: 29.8 lb.    Still to go: 8.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

How are pork chops EVER in the running with pizza? I know that is not what I should take away from this journal entry. My sister is recovering from Covid. She's an RN in Indiana. Doing well- considering. She had a range of symptoms from fever to cough to horrible body aches... but day 10 and she is feeling ok- just weak. Be safe!

Yes Rainey, definitely needed water today! DP, I'm glad your sister is doing better. My Brother in law was tested but thankfully the issues he was having weren't covid. Hubby & I do get out of the house but we try to ge very careful....taking all the precautions.
