Katsolo's Journal, 12 May 2020

I'm recording this but not mentally logging it because it's not a true reading. I didn't gain that much muscle, fat or additional bone mass overnight given the circumstances. It's salt, injured tissues and the water I drank. We'll see where we are tomorrow. On the other hand, I guess it will look like I had a significant loss tomorrow.

Drank water in the middle of the night with pain meds, ate salted seasoning and soy sauce. I don't normally use much salt - just don't like it. I didn't swim, only walked and that was shortened because I had wrapped my rib and couldn't breathe normally because of the binding, not the sore rib. That was a really interesting experience because I was having total flashbacks to when I first started swimming again and had to take frequent breaks. It's a very uncomfortable feeling and makes me really wary of venturing out carelessly even as the authorities lift restrictions on the stay at home.

Plan today is a slow and steady swim in the 130-140 range for heart rate.

Sodium kills me. You will have a nice whoosh tomorrow. I hope your rib is getting better

I actually do feel better today. More range of movement. So, if I can prevent myself from doing stupid stuff for a couple more days...

I was told binding ribs isn’t considered safe anymore. I go in tomorrow to see if mine are broken or just bruised. Nothing they can do about it but I like to know :).

@peeper, it's probably because you can't breathe properly as I rediscovered. it did help stabilize me during the day though.I think I just partially tore it because I was pushing on something really hard at an odd angle. Much better today, no wrap, doesn't hurt when I breathe normally. Putting on a swimsuit was not fun though.

Yes. I read that it’s because of the breathing and if you can’t get a deep breath you are more likely to develop things like pneumonia. I find that if I cup the area that hurts and out some pressure on it then it feels better. No way can I run though. I lifted again for the third time today. Since it was ab day it hurt much more than it did before. Had to drop my weights down and limit range of motion. Needless to say I didn’t finish the workout lol. I was more than happy to stop 10-15 minutes early! Hope yours heal soon!

I just looked at my swim numbers. Literally half the normal number of strokes, heart rate up, my form was horrible, but I kept moving because I want the benefit of good circulation to help it heal. Caloric burn was average, so there's that. woot woot. Swim #17 on the books as of 05/12/20. 90 days on the move streak.
