Ok I gotta tighten this plan up. Had posted last wk that this 64 yr woman has been diagnosed with the big C. A female one. If it doesn't spread then after my hysterectomy I should be fine. But I have to get my weight done now & after. Am not over eating, in fact eating little but drinking much coffee with minimum sugar & sugar free creamer. I have the full creamer & know how to drink my coffee. Love Atkins meals & have a freezer full. Have to drink more water & cycle more. Think I'm over the shock & do what has to be done. Am going to FS goals to lessen my carbs. Have been on 1200 calories & always eat/drink 900-1270 daily. It's gotta be the carbs that keeps me loosing so slowly. Seeing my Oncologist Feb 4 & will have the procedure within 10 days after that. Would love to have loss 10 lbs before the surgery. Any tips on how to do that I'm listening. Thanks in advance & no worries 😊

Wishing you well on your surgery. Your diet plan sounds good to me. There are people on here who are pretty knowledgeable o n healthy eating habits. I would work on limiting those c arbs.

Wish you all the best with your health. Hope things go well with the surgery. I've had many surgeries. The weird things I say coming out of anesthesia are crazy. I was imagining once that I was part of a Korean Drama and telling the Post-Op nurse all about it. She was laughing her head off. I think the point of limiting carbs when you're on one of the no-carb/low-carb diets (Atkins, South Beach, etc.) is to get yourself into ketosis which helps you lose weight fairly quickly. For most of the rest of us, especially the Calorie-counters (like me) and Calories In/Calories Out (CICO) folks, we limit carbs because ounce for ounce carbs have way more calories than the other food groups. For instance, a burrito sized flour tortilla is 200 calories, whereas 2 cups of shredded bok choy is 18. Or a 5 oz baked/broiled/sauteed in a no-calorie spray pan/etc chicken breast is around 125 calories. So you could almost have a whole meal on what that tortilla costs calorie-wise. The point of this is, if you're not on one of the low-carb diets, I wouldn't worry overly much about where your calories come from. Just make sure that you are correctly counting your calories. Buy a cheap scale and weigh your food. You may be surprised what 4 ounces really is. Measure everything until you really get a good idea of what a cup/half cup/tablespoon/etc is. When I first started, I was putting my evening coffee in as a cup of brewed coffee with 4 tbs of creamer. It wasn't. When I finally got around to measuring it, I found out I was drinking half a cup of creamer every evening, which is double what I thought it was. Big difference.

Cancer loves sugar; you should eliminate it completely from your diet. Just sayin.

I always tell people that consuming something that’s look the same but not getting the exact same thing it’s called imitation. The problem with imitation is, they taste the same but your not getting the same effect like the original, like sugar for example. Most people use sugar free sugar to sweeten their food but they don’t realize that they’re using chemicals. Think of this way, how does so called sugar you use looks like sugar and taste like sugar. But is not really sugar. So, for me personally I rather use sugar in moderation at least I know I am using sugar not just any fancy name chemical that eventually is going to still hunt me in the future. If you need something to sweeten your drinks or food use honey instead, it’s healthy and is good for you, with that being said still use it in moderation.

with CA, you might have difficulty with weight loss now, but after your surgery, and possibly chemo, I'll bet that weight will be gone. My opinion is that you need your energy for the time ahead, so don't try changing, or spinning down, your diet just yet. Really, more important is to come through healthy and strong!!

@Debsue420, I'm so sorry about your diagnosis, but it sounds like you're getting a handle on thngs and approaching it with calm determination. I second that opinion on glucose feeding cancer cells. I found a simple distillation of what I've read in professional studies at -------------------------------https://thetruthaboutcancer.com/sugar-white-death/ -------------------- under the subhead "Does Sugar Feed Cancer? Exploring the Sugar and Cancer Connection ------WITH THE NOTABLE EXCEPTION that he recommends "raw honey, pure maple syrup, molasses, and coconut sugar." Of course, these are ALL converted in the body into glucose.

We hear sometimes that limiting sugars can work well for that type of diagnosis. Bless you!
