abbadabba's Journal, 17 March 2010

I have figured it out: I eat too much, that is why am I not losing weight! Ha ha! I had a few days where I just had to eat everything in front of me and I went out of my way to get food to PUT in front of me - once I recorded it though, I start to think that I over did it!

I had a nice dinner out with my younger daughter and my older daughter with her boyfriend. Now I'll cut back - and I'll go to bed early tonight because I am sooooo tired! Daylight savings is wiping me out! And I am hoping that being better rested will help me cope with food better tomorrow and the next few days - if I can average 1100 calories a day, I lose about 3/4 of a pound a week, so I am hoping to do a few low days.

My yard is half under water! Used to be a long hike (football field length) into the woods to the water, now it's just 15 feet past the first row of trees - my neighbors yard is almost completely under, but our houses are up high enough that we don't have to worry. the police keep calling me to let me know I can go and get sandbags if I want them, but I am on a hill, and the only water I get is when my gutters overflow cuz they're stuffed with leaves that I haven't cleared out like I should.

I vacuumed up 20 gallons of water between Monday and Tuesday, all of it from leaks from gutter overflow. I either fight the leaves in the gutters or I clear water out of the basement. Ack. I did both this time because it rained for DAYS!

Anyway, I'll be early to bed tonight like I said and just get over the whole bad weather tiredness - today was a beautiful day but I had a Girl Scout meeting that wasn't very coordinated, and one girl threw up and had to go home - talk about stress! My coleader's daughter was being a turd, and my coleader finally admitted that she has been forcing the kid to come to the meetings. Great, so I get to deal with a bad attitude. I told her to stay home next time, because it wasn't worth it to me for the kid to be at the meetings just to avoid asking the rest of the families for help. Honestly, I'd rather not have a meeting if it means dealing with Miss Spoiled Brat with an additional bad attitude! Ok, that's all my complaining for the day. We worked it out - I am going to set up for a 3rd adult to plan to be at the meetings and if co's daughter doesn' want to come, then fine.

Hopefully next meeting will be better, with or without the co.

I almost forgot I have to go back to work tomorrow. I'll get a plan together and bring my sneakers so maybe I'll take a walk.

Haha! Had to laugh about your girl scout meeting - brings back very similar memories! Had the same girls from kindergarten through middle school! Lots of good memories splashed with lots of attitude.... fun to look back on though!

Wow! I think all the vacuuming up the water would be quite a work-out! I had been staying at about 1000 to 1100 calories for the first 6 weeks of my diet. But then I plateaued (sp?). Then I had a week-end out and got off on my calories. Ever since I have been eating closer to 1200 - 1300. I am actually feeling better and not craving and even losing weight more now. I've recently discovered that anything less than 1100 puts the body into "starvation" mode where it tries to store rather than burn so I would suggest not over-doing the "less calores = more weight loss" because I don't think it is always true. Good Luck though. You are doing great!

Wow where do you live that you got that much water?

I live in Massachusetts, about 200 feet from a river. My property borders national park land that borders a river. We got inches of rain. And MOMofTeens: no chance of me going into starvation mode, lol!

Not to downplay the importance of exercise but, I find it a lot easier just to control the calories, and more predictable as well. Covering both aspects is ideal of course. Have a good day abba.
