Darn blood pressure was up yesterday. I had hoped that by now I could at least reduce some of the BP meds as I take 6 tablets a day of 3 different kinds of meds to keep in under control. It is better than it used to be but yesterday it was right back up there. I am satisfied with the rate I am losing the pounds but discouraged about the lack of results in the battle of the blood pressure. End of vent.

Try to relax more. Blood pressure fluctuates a lot when you get anxious. Hope everything goes well today.

Here's a great article from Dr. Andres Eenfeldt (Diet Dr.) on Blood Pressure... I tend to find my Dr. lazy at times, which irritates me to no end just driving to the place.. "White Coat BP" it's been called, as my BP will rise just by going to the Dr. Link below...see if you find some good information to help. http://www.dietdoctor.com/blood-pressure

And I have the opposite problem. I have low blood pressure, quite low, and there is no help, no pills I can take. So I walk around dizzy all the time. We all have issues

Saun7, a weight-lifting program 3-4 times a week should raise your blood pressure on a consistent basis.

One thing my doc said was to eat a few walnuts or other nuts but not too many daily as they are high in calories and that can sometimes help with high BP. Mine goes up if I'm on extra meds for asthma or bronchitis/ pneumonia that I get easily or if my breathing is raggy.

Not sure if it works or not

Walnuts are good for HFLC!

I usually keep almonds around but not walnuts. I'll have to get some and give it a try.

I find if I'm having BP done it's best to get to the doctor's 15 minutes early and sit and rest before BP is done, else it will be high. Also no alcohol the night before, and drink water, make sure you are hydrated. A single reading can easily be misleading anyway, and yes, there is such a thing as 'white coat BP', as any kind of stress will raise BP. I once had a nurse insist on doing my BP actually while I was having a coughing fit! That one was sky high, but completely meaningless!

Heidi, agreed. My doc had me keep a journal for a few weeks with BP readings every 2 hours or so while awake and also indicate if I was wheezing and any meds (rescue inhaler and even aspirin). I had to take it in to her. She knows now how my breathing affects my BP so doesn't worry much if it's up and I'm having a bad breathing day. She has even had me take my inhaler and re-checked it in her office about 10 min. later and it normally comes down. I will check it periodically myself with my wrist cuff now for a day here and there for my peace of mind. Dad had high BP most of his life and died of a major stroke. Yup BP is usually a little higher in the doc's office. Heidi, dumb nurse to take it while coughing.

I've resently journaled about high BP, and the befits of drinking beetroot juice. It's one of natures wonders which is having a positive effect lowering BP naturally. It sounds to good to be true, but try googleling it, and have a read. I'm not saying that you might not need any meds, but you never know if it can help you maybe reducing some? You never know... Good luck.
