Diana 1234's Journal, 23 November 2022

I did it! I resisted the urge to weigh everyday! Last weigh in was Sunday. When my weight is consistent, I can easily weigh only twice a week but when I gain like I did this week, I want to weigh everyday. My nutritionist will be pleased. Shoulder is feeling better so I'm going to try working out upper body today.

obt, thanks! Feel like I'm coming down with a cold, no fever though so I'll do my workout. We went off roading yesterday and the temperature here was around 60 but by the time we hit top of mountain temp dropped to low 40s and we had snow. It was fun though!

Great job. When I first started I was weighing in daily and taking the average as my weight. I then became so preoccupied by the daily changes I started to lose focus on my goal, which wasn’t weight loss at all, but rather dropping my percentage of body fat. Now I weigh in maybe every two weeks or so and this allows me to focus breed on the goals I have and not be distracted. Some can weigh in daily with no issues some can’t, neither is right or wrong. Find the tool that works for you. You made need a hammer rather than a wrench, and someone else may need a wrench rather than a screwdriver. Congrats on your successes.

I weigh every day out of habit but I have a complete understanding of what any DAILY changes represent so the numbers don’t affect me. It’s the overall trend that is important. What I don’t get is people who weigh multiple times a day —the fat fairy is not going to stop by hourly and remove or add pounds.

Kenna, I agree with you about weighing multiple times a day .I obsess enough if I weigh daily even though I understand the fluctuations due to water, sodium etc. It is better for me to weigh 2xs a week for now. 💕

Daddy Manatee, Yes I agree with you We are all different and so we all have different ways to succeed on our journey. I wish I could go 2 weeks without weighing myself ( my nutritionist would be so happy!) but for now I'll do 2xs a week. I also agree on how easy it can be to lose sight of end goal! I'm trying to bulk up and when I weigh myself everyday I focus on the scale number..that's not helpful! 💪💪

Good to hear your shoulder injury is mended. And congrats on fighting the weigh-in beast urge. New habits are possible with anything. You talk about bulking up -- what is your strategy to accomplish this? Have you increased your weekly caloric intake yet? How much weight do you need to gain to fill in the gaps? How much weight are you WILLING to gain? (this is a different question, and speaks to any nagging anxiety about adding pounds you fought so hard to burn off.)

JB, I'm not going to do the bulking until we return from vacation which will be in 2 weeks. I'm going to increase protein and carbs and increase my caloric intake. I will also move toward a cleaner diet, eating more whole foods. Will be talking to my trainer and nutritionist about actual numbers. I will also increase weights and weightlifting sessions to get best results.

We will be passing by each other on the field then, as my goal is the opposite direction (To drop down to about 115 while resistance training, hiking & Pilates to build lean and defined muscles, with a target deadline of summer 2023). Think Misty Copeland rather than Serena Williams.

Congrats, however there’s nothing wrong with weighing yourself every, as long as you look at the overall weekly average and still progressing towards your goal. Part of the journey of losing weight is going to have ups and downs and not be linear throughout the process.

Great job!!! I need to take pointers from you on how to not weigh in daily

Tim...you made me laugh! Good advice!💜🤣🤣🤣

Djfoucher, it's a different journey for each of us. I tend to obsess about the number when I weigh daily instead of the end goal.💜. Nosequepondo, when or if I figure it out I'll let you know..lol😏 it's still an up and down issue for me. 💜
