madaboutmoose's Journal, 21 July 2009

It may be short-lived ... but Frank gave me a glimpse of 179.8 this morning!! Nice. I went back to the market last night and bought more melon ... the Honeydew Orange Flesh and had some last night. It is soooo sweeeet and tasty!! YUM!!! It was a busy Monday ... seems every day is busy lately. Still, life is good and I want to keep my positive approach going in every aspect of my life. I was so very tired last night and my shoulders were very tight. I think it is all the typing I am doing, trying to catch up on the paperwork aspect of my job. Today I have several visits out and about and hopefully another dent in some of the paperwork I have. I find myself wanting to snack even though I am not really hungry. Probably related to being tired I imagine. I just want to be careful about the snacking so that I do not lapse back into old habits ... eating just to eat. Well, I suppose I should get this party started ... make my lunch, finish getting ready for work, and face the day!! Have a great day everyone!! Remember that you are definitely worth it!!

Thanks for reminding us that we ARE worth it. You are right. We deserve the very best effort at doing what is healthy for our beeeeeeyoooooteeeefuuuulll bods. Say. Don't work too hard Kiddo. My job has a lot of paperwork too and stress-relieving exercise is great that kind of shoulder and neck tension. Your observation reminds me of an acronym H - A - L - T. I will post the explanation in my journal tomorrow - that'll give you something to which you may look forward! STAY TUNED! He-he-he-he!

Good for you, getting back into the 170's! The positive boost that gives mentally is a great boost to motivation. Keep it up! That melon sounds good...I'm on my way to the market, may have to keep that in mind. It's amazing, once you become aware of your eating, to realize how much you used to eat just out of habit or boredom, isn't it? I know it is for me. Hope you have a good day!

Let's see H-A-L-T ... hungry, angry, lonely, tired!! LOL!!! Old subtance abuse treatment acronym!!! Is that it?? It is a good one and certainly applies to me!! It is amazing to be cognizant of how much I ate our of habit, boredom, being tired, not feeling good, feeling really good, and on the list could go. I wasn't mindful at all. I can still snack ... but not out of the bag ... instead I measure out what I want to snack on. If I really want more I can go downstairs and measure out another serving. For myself, I have to remember I've spent a life time with my "old" habits and only 6 short months with these new ones. I still need practice ... everyday!! I like how I feel ... I want to keep practicing the things that maintain this good feeling!! Thanks ladies!!

Dad burn it! You figured it out. You are a smart one - you! He-he-he-he! That acronym brings my friend with the sobriety coins to mind. I DO NOT possess a sobriety coin - nor have I been through a program with any particular number of steps - other than the three (3) phases of South Beach. A counselor co worker of mine reminds his wife never to permit herself to become too hungry, angry, lonely, or tired. She has had some success with South Beach too. So much for the surprise! He-he-he-he! Say - I left you a not over on my journal. Later Tater!

Glimpses are good and they come around again. If you do not stop talking about those amazingly delicious orange flesh melons I am going to come through the Internet, grab that melon from you and come back home. I LOVE those things. Today ends week 1 of SB phase 1, 1 week to go thank God, and I miss my fruit soooooo much. I had no idea how much I missed it. I know for a fact if someone put my beloved chocolate in front of me and amazing wonderful fresh fruit, pineapple, melon, strawberries, grapes, mangoes I would pick the fruit. Now, why is that! That totally confuses me actually since I love chocolate. Try making fists, putting them up by your ears and then stretching backward with your shoulders and elbows, putting your head back and rotating your head. That might help that tight soreness in you neck from holding it forward while you type. Hope it does help and I hope you are having a great day.

Sorry to taunt you Mo with Melon stories!!! I just get them so rarely!!! I forgot how good they were!! I'll try your stretching advice. I'm tight again tonight ... last night I took a muscle relaxer I had left over from a surgery ... slept GREAT!!! But lots of typing these days. I behind in evaluation reports and notes so I've been trying to catch up. You just hang in there with SB ... fruit will still be around and you'll be able to eat it again, eventually!!

Go onto Facebook, you will see across the top your choices, go to the right side where your full name is, to the right of that is Wall, Info, Photos and a plus + sign. Click on that plus sign and click onto Scrabble Beta. I love playing Scrabble, I have really enjoyed this with my son and friends and you can have as many as 4 playing the same game. Have fun. :-)

Congrats on Frank's good news! Maybe it's those magic orange melons! I still haven't found those, but I'm still looking. Oh, and great job practicing those new habits. It gets easier every day, but we always have to be mindful. Thank you for being such a supportive buddy. I hope your shoulders feel better today!
