Soapbox. CDC guidelines for canned tuna consumption was never intended for the general population. Young children, under 6, should keep under a can a week, pregnant and nursing women, under 3 cans per week. A 180 pound person over 25 can eat 9.5-5 oz cans of tuna in water a week and still be under the Mercury limit. A 5 oz can of tuna with mayo, 1 egg, celery and onion makes between 4 & 5 sandwiches. A 5oz Tuna steak has something like 5 times the Mercury of a 5oz can. The tuna they can is under a year old. Tuna steak is taken from older/larger fish and they've been in the water longer and have higher exposure. We're talking percentage points of mercury per million anyway. As they used to say in the 70s THNIK!
