Haha so my ‘easy’ workouts from Thinner Leaner Stronger aren’t so easy after all.

Hubby did something to his inner thighs on his deadlifts. Could barely step into the truck. I rubbed those for about 10 min each. Today he’s walking normally again.

I woke up still and sore. Ever hauled small square bales of hay? Remember that first day after your first hauling? Yeah I feel like that. So I’m pretty darn sure it was the deadlifts. My lower back cramps up if I try to lift over 10# or so. Well a 12 pack of pop sent it into spasms. From just below my shoulder blades, up through the shoulders and through the delts hurts. Not my normal bone grinding kind of shoulder pain though so I can live with it. After two beers I can still feel it. I’m relaxed but my muscles aren’t. I wonder how tomorrow’s new workout will turn out haha. I’ll be posting here this weekend from my bed I bet.

Ouch! I use my heating pad, too. Or alternate heat and ice. Hope you feel better soon, Peeper! 🥺💪🏻

Interesting...when I rub Diablo's thighs, he can't walk at all. 😝

Princess, LOL! I'll bet he can't...

Ouch! I avoid deadlifts for that very reason. Heal up soon! Try Aleve - it's the best I have found for relieving muscle spasms.

Chris, today is leg day! Somehow I doubt squats will make it feel better haha. Icy hot was my friend last night. I was able to get to sleep about 3-4. I may have to bribe a kiddo to rub my back for me today. The shoulders are back to being hard and tight again too. I remember this from 10 years ago. I’d get tense when stressed and when this tight a migraine would come on. I’ll dig out the Advil later I think. Normally take only for headaches and I know a headache isn’t coming soon. The general sinus/allergy headache I already have but nothing bad from the shoulders and neck. I did sleep almost 7 hours. Maybe I’ll try a nap to get the extra hour in ;). (We must both be following Matthew’s routine. I’ll sneak hubby’s book and see if the men’s and women’s version are the same. )

Thanks guys! Dad popped Aleve like candy and it was Advil for mom. I’m more for Advil because it usually works quickly for my headaches. I just hate popping pills of any kind lol. Stupid things stick in my throat, but it’s better since Chris convinced me to hydrate more ;). If I can’t sweet talk the kiddos into rubbing my back and shoulders I’ll ask them to find the heating pad they keep moving. Ice is out as intense up and that’ll cause more spasms lol. I hate icing anything and rarely do it. Once hubby gets home for lunch I’ll see which he likes and get a lifting belt ordered. I read that a belt could’ve minimized the muscle soreness. Wonder if it would help the abs for the cable crunches... (haha NOT cause then I couldn’t ‘crunch’ I think).

Make sure on deadlifts not to shrug your shoulders at the top. That can cause the soreness in the upper back like that. Your shoulders and back are suppose to stay neutral throughout the deadlift. They are there to support the weight not move it. Then you are most likely feeling DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) this is normal with strength training to start out with. It is usually the worst the 2nd day after the workout.

Darth, I’m unsure as to what a shrug at the top is but I’ll google. Thanks! Day 2 now and some areas are more sore and some are less sore. Lower back good to go, shoulders a bit less sore, mid back, upper back and abs hurt like the dickens lol. Cramped up again picking up laundry detergent haha. Getting a mini workout today.

Chris, it looked similar but sure enough after checking hubby’s book, you are on the same! The men’s and women’s are slightly different however. His doesn’t say hip thrusts where mine does. I do 2 calf workouts per week and he does one. Our day one and two are switched. He says he’ll follow mine. After the 8 weeks and a break then maybe we will do his. Or just move to week 10-18 on mine.

I could be wrong. There were several he could do. I looked at the 3x per week and there were two of those. I probably looked at the wrong one or just forgot it. ;)

If he has to start going back in the mornings he would want the 5 day one. We may have to do that and I go in the afternoons once ball starts. Games and practices are Sun-Thurs pretty much August to February.
