BuffyBear's Journal, 22 January 2013

I've come to the conclusion that protein shakes are counterproductive. I've been trying to eat more natural foods, yet when I make these shakes I've been adding artificial sweeteners and/or flavorings. Plus, they taste so good that I've been using them as a dessert rather than a meal replacement!

On a different topic, I promised one of my Buddies that I would reassess my goals today. After all there is something wrong that after 2 years I still have 23 pounds left to lose. So something has got to change!

This week I'm going to work my butt off to lose 2 pounds. This will put me at 154 for the start of my next Challenge (Lose 7 lbs in Feb).

The next mini goal will be 150 by Valentines Day.

I'll review my progress again March 1st, to see how much weight I'll need to lose in order to celebrate St. Patricks Day in my size 10 jeans.

lol on the protein shakes Buffy - I had the ones that have no additives and they were so disgusting that I really didn't want to waste my calories on them. If you keep reasessing you'll get the problem - but you have done really well since the start of the year!

I have to protein shakes too. I just get the "working out" shake powders. They are only like 160 calories and it is 95% protein. Only like 220 calories when made with skim milk. I generally only eat them after I lift a little weight and have the free calories in my day plan. Needless to say I haven't had one in a while lol.

Tracy - I've already found the problem. Turns out, I am the problem!

Fish - I'm thinking that will change for you very soon! We'll have to change your moniker to "Small Fry".

Drinking green beer in your size 10 jeans sounds like a fun goal to me.:)

I like your mini goals I might need to steal them. We can both reach our goals this year! For some reason this year seems more achievable than before. You're doing great.

DairyFarmersWife - I like your thinking - 2013 will be the year. Of course, it may be a little easier for me since I don't have to worry about getting pregnant!

LOL...I have the same problem with yogurt, by the time I get the stuff to something I can actually eat & enjoy, it qualifies as a decadent dessert & a kind of yucky one at that! Size 10 IS in your future, I know it is!

Buffy, sorry you are going to have to give up your shakes. :( I try to eat more natural as well, but live by the 80/20 rule. I try to make sure at least 80% of everything is natural, no added ingredients, the way God made it. I leave the other 20% for things like SF zero carb margaritas, reduced sugar ketchup, and low carb yogurt...mmmm, yummy! I have no doubt that you will be in those size 10's by St. Patty's day, enjoying that green beer and some corned beef and cabbage! Have a great day, my friend!

Oh, and congratulations on that 1 pound drop! You are doing fantastic!

GG - With your self control you could handle these. I know you don't like yogurt but these are not made with yogurt. I found (unfortunately) that pure whey protein has a nice creamy taste when coupled with the almond milk. But they are just too good.

Stef - it is nice to find balance in one's life so I am glad you are making room for those margaritas!

Oh, Buffy, they are soooo good! lol I limit myself to 2, though, as the salt can cause me some problems, and we know that they just aren't as good without the salt! lol

Look who's back and ready to tackle those pounds! You are a warrior (a la Dolvett's comments last night on Biggest Loser)!!! Go get 'em! Or, should I say.....Go lose 'em!

Buffy, I do totally understand the Too-Good thing...too many of those spell trouble on wiegh in day!

Sandy - Lets hope I'm back. To think, at one time I was only 17 pounds from goal. I need to become a Warrior - but the battle will be fought against myself.
