cocobutt's Journal, 27 May 2019

I want to start all over. Two days ago I injured my knee just climbing up my stairs with laundry. It came out of nowhere. I didn't slip or misstep. I just lifted my leg and felt an intense sharp pain behind my right knee on the right side. It hurt so bad that I couldn't put weight on it for about 5 minutes. I was sweating and cussing. Then it subsided and I was able to hobble to a chair and wait it out. When I got up, it was as though nothing had happened. I was favoring it out of nervousness and forgot about it until it happened again a few hours later trying to step up from our porch stoop. It has happened about 5 times over the weekend so I'm wary of taking stairs and walking too fast. The best relief is when I lie down after it happens. I'll have to see an orthopedist this week.

I'm afraid to weigh myself. I know it's bad. Certainly over 212 pounds now. My body probably hit a threshold in its ability to support this amount of weight.

I have to sit on my butt and work all day today. At least I will try to be mindful of what I'm eating even if I can't do much walking. I got an invite from Jo to join a challenge today. (If you're here, Hi Jo!) Maybe that's no coincidence, so I joined. Maybe my knee won't hurt as bad if I take 5 pounds of pressure off it in the next week. At least I could strive for that.

Our knees do take the weight when we're carrying too much of it.

Bummer! I have osteoarthritis in both knees, and losing over 35 lbs really has helped.
