Hmm rushed out of the house late to the gym. Grabbed two bottles of water and a protein shake but forgot the snickers and hard candies I had laid out. Does a jaw breaker while I worked out count as candy?? Lol. Grabbed a Gatorade zero, 5 kcal, at the gas station in the way home. (Memory sucks but someone mentioned that could help me).

No pump. Wet noodle feeling but it went away faster today. Also skipped a few machines as my legs are still sore from cramping and hubbys back gave out. Not on the floor gave out but unable to bend over and get back up again without help. I did however lighten the weights on some machines and did 40 reps. Still no pump lol. As hubby pointed out, Arnold was probably on steroids anyway and what could be better than an orgasm? (Arnold said the pump was) lol. I just want the muscles to look big. BUT I glanced in the mirror while rowing and I wish I had a pic of it. Nice light from the window and nice definition to the upper back and arms. Can’t reproduce it in the mirror at home 😭. Ah well, the emotional feeling of it stayed with me. Now for some taco soup to load up on protein and figure out what snack I can have later. Almonds sound soooo good right now.

Hmmm wtg in the look in the mirror, not getting the orgasmic pump (haha), the water and Gatorade or the sugar from the one jaw breaker?? Lol. Decent workout tonight. Left early only because I didn’t think I could lift 265# then carry that weight to the truck then do it again when we got home lol. 😁 No cramps today so must have enough water in my system. Oh yeah. I also sweat more today than I ever have. Hubby said they had the AC turned down warmer. I’m cold natured so I think that’s why I don’t sweat much at the gym. It felt good and I wasn’t shivering when I walked in like usual.

Ok 👌 thanks for the info! I never realized water regulated my body temp. It doesn’t seem to warm me up in the winter but drinking water does cool me off in the summer :).

Muscle cramps can come from dehydration, also if your body is low in magnesium, calcium, or potassium cramps can also form. So maybe the Gatorade helped too!

Maybe so Kenny! Chris, I never hold water for long. Half an hour after I drink a bottle it’ll be coming back out ;). Well I guess some could go into muscles and things and stay but it sure seems like it all comes out quickly.

I like this Adam Ruins Everything episode on hydration. Pretty much saying that the amount of water we need is hugely overstated. Just drink when thirsty and you're good. It claims that hydration does not stop cramping. It also talks about how exercise puts your body into water conservation mode which stops you from needing to pee. I've noticed this, when I drink a lot during my workout, I end up having to pee 2-3 time within a couple of hours after my workout. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwdqFHBaPwY

I’ll check it out thanks! I’ve never been one to drink a lot. That being said I know I didn’t drink enough before as I was good with just 3-4 12oz sodas a day but had a constant headache. That’s better now that I’m drinking propel and 2-4 bottles a day. I haven’t has to pee during a workout so far but I’ve barely made it home a time or two. 1/2 hour drive plus usually a stop for fuel, milk for the kids or Diet Coke for hubby. 4 bottles and 3/4 of a Gatorade and I barely went this morning which is highly unusual so I know I’m dehydrated or retaining water.

I just saw this, and I feel ya. I remember when I did high row on a machine. It was right in front of the mirror at the gym, and I recall thinking that if only my chest and shoulders looked like they do mid-row all the time ... Ah, the silly ideas we get in the gym 🤪 But I'll take whatever motivation works to keep m in the gym, 😁 and 💪

As for peeing, I have a half hour drive home from the gym and I probably drink a gallon a day before working out and another by the time I've finished. I might pee 2 or 3 times in the two hours I'm lifting, but it never fails, about 3/4 of the way home, it gets critical!

Lol hubby and I were talking about this Friday. Lo and behold I ended up having to pee lol. Made it through the machines but did my best not to do the potty dance all the way to the bathroom after lol. Half an hour drive each way for us and hubby has been known to pee in the yard or on a dirt road in the way home. As for the rowing, I see so much definition using that seated row machine. One machine is by itself but this one has 4 different things, one on each side. We use one side for lay pull downs and one for triceps but I can’t see myself in the mirror on those lol. The seated row is my favorite. Not only because of the mirror but also because I can tell it works my whole upper body and I get up feeling weak from the waist up rather than just arms. I hold my abs tight the whole time too. I can’t seem to mimic the feeling with my dumbbells. 😭
