HCB's Journal, 24 October 2012

Food plan is going well, but slow on exercise today - still "babying" my left Achilles tendon and want to be sure not to create a "real" injury. Right now, it has only been a little sore for a few days - not sure why - but minimal at the moment.

Seems I have gone a little "Clothes Crazy" recently. Purging the closet, and buying new pants and tops for work. It is great but I want to be careful not to buy too much in my current size - I need things that will follow me when I get down another 30 pounds or so. I have my eye on a really beautiful top:

Still grateful for:

- The people I love who love me back!
- The good health of my loved ones
- My FS Buddies who support and encourage me to continue
- "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today
- My DH - who is my greatest "cheerleader"
- My Bengal cat companions named Bodhi and Ravi
- My work - which has meaning and worth to other human beings
- My connection to the Mother Earth and its entire splendor
- My physical health

HCB - I love that style blouse. It will give you the illusion of having a smaller waist while the "skirt" helps hide the lower belly. Hint - try it on because sometimes the skirts aren't long enough to do their job. You are doing great - a little reward in the form of clothing never hurt anything!

Oh, pretty top! Don't get carried away like I did on the closet purge thing... unless you like to do laundry several times a week to have something clean to wear! (Still planning to wait three months to stabilize before shopping.)

Definitely reward yourself. You've done a great job with remaining consistant with your prgoress!

Very pretty top - love the color! Yes, it's hard to not go crazy buying new clothes while we are losing weight. You feel so good about your new smaller shape and just want to buy, buy, buy. Plus, I found it's dangerous to buy "inspiration clothes" that you plan to fit into in the future - I have done that in the past when I saw something cute on sale and I put it away in a drawer and forgot about it. I've actually slid on by a couple things where, when I finally discovered them in the drawer, they were already too big :(

HCB- I think that top will look beautiful on you- I love the color and the style, and you need to reward yourself with things you feel pretty in and that actually fit you now. Hope your injury feels better soon.

It can be difficult to control your spending when you begin to fit into more cute standard-size clothes. So many options. When you're plus-sized, I found, I'd just buy whatever fit b/c nothing looked 'good'. That mentality carried over a bit when I got down to 12-14 sizes. More stuff fit, so I thought I'd have to buy it. You have to get more picky and just buy what you LOVE!

Very pretty -- love the cheery color AND am thinking it a very slimming style. Isn't it fun to get the new (SMALLER) clothes :)

Great post and I love all the comments. I am guilty of over-spending on clothes because of what Jess mentioned. I was in the habit of buying whatever fit because usually not much did. Now that more things fit me, I need to get more picky. I have the same fear of buying too much in my current size but I guess that's another silver lining on my slower weight loss. I will be wearing these clothes longer than I thought I was. *sigh* Adding a +1 to loving the color of that blouse.

Hi HCB, love that blouse!!! It's yours you own it...this is what I tell myself because I have a suite that I have never worn and my goal is to be able to wear it come next year to my niece graduation. Heck I'll rather not be able to still fit it hoping it will be to big. I would like to know what are you doing to drop the weight at 9lbs a week? So far the most I've lost was 4lbs and that was my second week. I've just started my challenge the first Saturday of this month. Any advice would help..thank you

I love that blouse and I agree that it will look great with your dark hair and for the holidays. I have been lucky on a few purchases where I found some nice barely used slacks at thrift stores and also wore things a little big too for in between sizes. You have done great and will be back to your exercise routine in no time.

Nothing wrong with clothes crazy, HCB. What better way to reward yourself than to lose weight and get a new wardrobe in the process. When I was losing, I would keep 2 pair of "transition" pants and only 2, in my current size and a size smaller. knowing that I would go down into the next size and transition out of that size. You're doing great. I'm very proud. Love the blouse too.
