Good morning! Yesterday was a tough day for me. I woke up feeling like I'd been run through a meat grinder. It was cold and rainy and the kids were insane from the combination of being cooped up all day and having colds.

I ate two meals -- lunch and supper -- and snacked on a banana and some pork rinds between the two. No coffee, but I drank a lot of water. I've been making sure to drink at least 6-7 glasses per day. I use my old beer glass though, which is a pint, so I'm usually drinking at least 3/4 gallon a day.

I rediscovered Chia seeds and nutritional yeast yesterday at supper. I've had some in the fridge for a while but had completely forgotten about them. Even with those added on liberally and the banana and pork rind snack, I still came in under 1,500 calories for the day. Still, I felt an odd combination of tired/beat up and restless/energetic. I tried to take it easy yesterday and give myself a rest, but I guess this past week has reminded my body what it's like to be fit (even though I'm still far from it) because I had a hard time sitting still and focusing without taking little exercise breaks!

Today is a new day, and I'm planning to do a bit more structured working out today. Not sure yet what I'll do nutritionally, but I know there's a little cake in the cards for today. It's my youngest daughter's first birthday. My wife has also talked about making our Keto chili, which is freaking delicious. In fact, I think that'll do it. A couple cups of coffee with coconut MTC oil and heavy whipping cream (adds some fat to that caffeine for some energy, but no carbs), a little cake when it's time for that, then Keto chili with some cheddar cheese, nutritional yeast flakes, chia seeds, and probably a little hot sauce. Yum

--EDIT--

Oh, I forgot about sleep. Lately, I've been getting only between 4.5 and 6 hours a night. I'm self-employed and work from home, so I struggle to get much work done during the day while it's just me and the kids. The result? I do most of my work at night after everyone else has gone to bed. I know I need more sleep, and that if I can start getting a solid night's rest, I'll see much better results across the board. Last night, I got a lovely 8 hours 50 minutes, according to my fitness tracker watch. I woke up this morning feeling slightly sore still, but much better nonetheless. I'm at that level of soreness that just means I worked out the other day, and now it's time for me to get back in it and stretch those muscles out and keep the progress rolling.

Good morning. Are you doing the keto diet? Sometimes if you put yourself in the middle of the two types of diet you may really be in trouble energy wise. The keto diet will allow you to draw your energy from fat more effectively but you have to be in ketosis. If you are not in ketosis but keeping your carbs very low and your calorie also very low you are not giving your body much for easy energy and that can wear you down. Anyways, so nice with a birthday for the little one. Hope you have a great day

I've been following the Keto diet -- with a few days off here and there -- for about five weeks. I suspect I stay in ketosis on days I don't overdo the carbs and protein, as I'm staying at about 1000 calories below my RDI for a 1.5 pound per week weight loss, yet I'm actually more energetic on average than I was when eating closer to 3000 calories! Also, it's hard to argue with 30 pounds lost over the course of a month and a half. I don't keep the test strips or anything to check my ketone levels, so I'm going on results (decreased weight, size, and huger, and increased energy and stamina). I suspect that at over 300 pounds in the beginning (328) and just under now (294 this morning), I have a slightly higher carb allowance than most smaller folk. Having said that, most days I come in under 20 grams.

ooh, and I've noticed more definition in my arms and legs. I noticed a shape to my forearms and triceps that I haven't seen in years the day before yesterday!

Yeah I see what you mean. The proof is in the pudding. LOL. I just see people go super hard doubling down and then fall and crash too often here on fs. And it is not necessary.

Yeah, I know. I'm an all or nothing guy though. I have tried to get in better shape by going slow and making little changes here and there, but I've never actually succeeded unless I went all in lol. I've been here before -- back in 08 I dropped 102 pounds in 7 months -- by 3 months later I achieved my first (and so far, only) day in which I did 1,000 pushups. While lots of folk tend to crash and burn if they go too hard, I actually tend to fail if I don't. I just kind of peter out.
