ellenmargaret's Journal, 14 June 2012

A big milestone in my life recently was celebrating my 35th wedding anniversary. WOW! Right? Well, hubby dragged me 'kicking and screaming' for photos for the paper.
I have been aware of my slow weight gain for quite a while now, but seeing those photos was devastating. I topped out at 200 lbs. 35 years ago, I think I was probably around 125-130 lbs.
Besides being tired of the way I look, I was tired or just being tired all the time.
My elliptical machine sat in the back yard for 2 1/2 years unused. So, I had hubby bring it in, haul it to the basement, only place with enough room. It's sort of a monster.
I started out doing 20 minutes a few times a week. Worked my way up slowly to 1/2 hour workouts 3-5 days a week. Now, I feel pretty comfortable doing 45-55 minutes 5-6 days a week.
For the first 6-8 weeks I was pretty discouraged because I was not losing ANY weight. But it is coming off slowly now, I am happy to say, this morning the scales said 192 lbs!

WOw - great job! 55 minutes is a long time on the elliptical so you are burning some calories!
