Honestly's Journal, 29 May 2012

This is not a shocking revelation when I say I am an emotional eater. I guess I've just not thought much about it before. My aunt passed away Saturday night and I have been eatting my grief away since. The grief has not gone away even with all the calories I've consumed. That's not shocking either. Right now I just don't care. This too shall pass. I am hopefull before too much more damage gets done. Note to self; learn some new coping skills!! She was so proud of me and my accomplishments. I need to re-group soon. Funny how I know that and I know that what I am doing is not helping in any way, shape or form but still I do it. Bad choices at every turn. Such a disconnect from head to heart sometimes. Better days are ahead.

I'm sorry to hear about your aunt. One of the coping methods I use is writing. Grab a journal or open up a Word Document on the computer and just write. Don't stop to check spelling or grammar. Don’t even trying to think about writing coherent thoughts or fragmented sentences. Just write what you are feeling at those exact moments. Start with the memories you’ll never forget and the ones you are afraid will fade. You'll pull through this, I believe in you!

My condolences to you and your family. It is not easy dealing with a loss. We have all fallen victim to emotional eating so do not be hard on yourself. Take the time you need to deal with this and then you can come back to your fitness plan with full force. We are here anytime you need to vent.

Thank you both so much for your encouraging words and support. Need to work on an attitude adjustment---soon! Time is a great healer. So are friends. I am blessed.
