Hiked yesterday and today. I'm pretty tired, but didn't journal yesterday, so here goes. Today we hiked about 9 1/2 miles. Which is just over 2 miles more than the book that listed the hike claimed it was. All but about a mile, mile and a half was beautiful. Left late, though and it was pretty hot for a while - maybe 80 or a bit higher. We hiked the same area as yesterday and last week, but took the Dutchman Trail to the Black Mesa trail. It was one helluva work out today. I burned 1800 calories during the six hours we were out there (including breaks and lunch). I think I'd do the hike again sometime, but a lot earlier in the day. Think our total elevation change was over 3,000'. A far cry from what I was led to believe in the book - 500' or so! Oh well. We hiked yesterday about 8 miles. Did the Hackberry Springs loop again, and then instead of finishing in the usual place, we hiked up the canyon further and then out another trail to the First Water trailhead, and back to the overflow parking lot. So it may have been slightly over 8 miles. Anyway, we weren't planning on hiking today. I was so upset after getting on the scale and seeing no weight loss for 2 weeks. Karl was out doing some of the yard clean up and asked if I wanted to hike. Well, okay, at least I burn a lot doing that : ) Ate a lot yesterday - close to 2,000 calories, I think. Not too bad today, about 1550 if I don't have another glass of wine. So tired, may just go to bed early. Today I've done 28,500 steps already (9:45pm), burned over 3,400 calories and have an activity time of nearly 7 hours. Not bad. Hope I can move tomorrow! : )
