I don't want to burn out.

It's really important to me that I don't burn out this round of dieting, but I still feel a voice that tells me to try to lose as much weight as possible before I "inevitably" give up.

instead of listening, I've decided to make a plan to PREVENT quitting:

-Talk openly about my dieting/exercise with family and friends who are also struggling with weight.
-Choose a weekly motto - this week it's "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming" (Credit to the girl who posted it on some forum I forgot the name of... it's genius)
-Forgive and move past slip-ups. I tend to cram everything in sight into my mouth the first time I break rank. Forgive and forget. Forgive and... maybe not forget, but regain control.
-Have "back up" foods available. For example, after dinner I'll try very hard not to eat extra snacks or go over my calorie limit, but sometimes mistakes will happen. Instead of leaving it to my craving-crazed state of mind, I'll designate a healthy "treat" i can have if I break down.
-I will weigh myself more often. In the past, I often skipped weighings or ignored them entirely to give myself a chance to "get back on track" when really, the lack of feedback just contributed to my subsequent weight gain.

REWARDS:
I don't have many clothes to wear, so I'm going to hold back on shopping until I've reached my weight goals. 10 pounds, I can buy a new pair of jeans that I desperately need. 20, a summer dress to show off my new figure (and celebrate breaking the "fat ceiling" I've never been able to get past). 30, shoes!! Summer sandals to make me feel good about my new body and encourage me to keep up healthy habits.

If I manage to stick to my plan and somehow the pounds don't add up, I'll give myself rewards anyway. My weight might not be under my control, but my diet and exercise IS. And that's what's important, afterall.

Diet Calendar Entry for 29 April 2012:
