Multiplicity1's Journal, 12 March 2010

Today was a good day except I'm worried that my favorite group might go away. I stayed under 20 total carbs and I will drink all my water again. My ketone stick was dark purple again. I had a lot of calories focused on lunch instead of spread more evenly throughout my day. And I'm probably not eating enough ounces of feta cheese for dinner but my calories were already so high. I got on the scale today and even though it is not yet my official weekly weigh-in day I had lost 1 lb. finally. Of course tomorrow I may gain 3 but it gave me some hope anyway. At lunch my husband cut up my chicken breast into small pieces and cooked it in oil. It was high in calories but it was the first time I actually liked chicken. No exercise today but I felt good about my food. Oh I got the book Atkins Diet Revolution in the mail today and I am looking forward to reading it. I am working my way out of Type 2 diabetes thanks to this food plan. That makes it worth doing by itself. Of course I wouldn't hate it if I started losing more weight...

That's great! My blood glucose reads between 81-116 all the time now. Now I don't feel so guilty for missing my walk today.

You're doing great multiplicity. I started about 3.5 pounds heavier than you, on January 24th. This is the 4th time for me doing Akins, but this time it isn't a diet, it is my new lifestyle. No going back to the old ways of eating. That is the mistake I made the other 3 times. Always thought I could control my carb addiction, and just eat a little and stop. I was wrong, and everytime I gained back what I lost and more. As for your food, remember that you don't need to worry about calories or fat on Atkins. In looking at your diet, try adding more meat. It helps to speed up the weight loss. Remember protein and fat are your friends on Atkins. Keep up the good work. You can do it!!

Do you use the Atkins site? Lots of good info on there about the diet and how it works. This is the URL if you haven't found them yet: http://community.atkins.com/index.jsp

ctlss is right. Protein and fat are your friends. If you are getting in your fat and protein your calories should be fine. Protein will give you the power and fat will help curb your appetite and cravings. As you work with your food log, you will see how you feel at all #'s and how they affect your loss. That's when you can see how tweeking can help. This week I have tried uping my calories while reducing carbs and that seems to be working for me. Now I am going to try and cut the cheese out of the diet and see how that works. You are doing great.

Just in case you're interested, Dr Atkins wrote a great book, "Atkins Diabetes Revolution". This book works a diabetic menu in to the Atkins program wonderfully!!! It actually has weekly menus with all recipes included. A One Stop Book. You're doing great, no need to go it alone.
