reddir's Journal, 22 September 2017

I woke up around 4 am, decided to test my blood glucose (BG) - it was moderate (not 'normal' but okay) and I was cheered up a bit. I went back to sleep and got up for the sunrise. I just tested again (7:40 am) and my BG was again relatively high.

It seems something happens in my body between 4 am and 7:30 am which spikes BG. It is really strange as even a meal (high protein) won't affect my BG to this extent at this speed. It might be worth spot-checking over a few nights to find out exactly when this happens.

I'm a bit cheered up by this 4 am reading - it means my body might not be in this over-elevated BG state the whole night.

Also, no problems with hunger or light-headedness yesterday; it was 24 hrs on water and basic supplements by 8 pm. I'm thinking it must be the ketogenic diet I've been on - my body might be fully adapted to burning fat (and there is a lot available to it) and not suffering from a perceived lack of sugar to burn.
