love4life's Journal, 18 June 2007

Okay, I fell off the green plan over the weekend big time. My husband loves to grill, so we had steaks. Instead of the traditional baked potato and corn, I made a brocolli/rice casserole. I used fat free cream of celery soup with low-fat cheese. It was so good! I also made deviled eggs and cole slaw. Plus a chunky style avocado dip that had feta cheese. I love to cook for my family when I get the chance. We usually live on quick fixes: cereal, eggs, frozen meals. I feel guilty sometimes that I can't always provide a home cooked meal, like the kind I grew up with. What makes it worse is that my mom was a young widow with two small kids to take care of and she worked full time as a nurse, and she still baked her own bread, made dinner every night and kept a spotless house. Sometimes she'll stop by the house when we are at work and clean my house, leave a meal in the fridge and do a few loads of wash. I am very grateful for what she does, but I feel like such a failure sometimes at being a "Domestic Goddess". She says that I am a success at being a wife, mother, friend and employee. So I have take my gold stars where I can get them. I am back on track with LAWL today. I sent leftovers with my husband to share with his co-workers, so temptation shouldn't be screaming at me when i get home tonight.

Be proud of yourself for everything you do. It is hard to do everything, cleaning, cooking etc. Don't be too hard on yourself. Your mom sounds like an angel! Good job on sending the leftovers with your husband. I have a few things around here too that are trying to call my name. Hang in there!

You are doing great so far, pick yourself back up and start over. Your mom sounds wonderful, thank goodness you have her. You don't use the lites do you? I am thinking about stopping those to see if I lose weight, should I add back in other foods?

Thanks for the support. Balonzo what color plan are you on? If you choose to stop the lites you will need to add more food. Depending on what color you are on will depend on which foods should be added. Let me know. Also another alternative to lites that I have used are luna bars. They are about $.99 a bar here in Texas. You can lose weight on the program without the bars.
