On the verge of a breakthrough! So I saw a commerical about Curves last night how you can burn between 500-600 calories so I thought- I'm going to give it a try. The YMCA and Curves are both a 5 min. drive from my house. OM gosh- CURVES is NO JOKE! They are giving a FREE WEEK trial so I went in to try. I wanted to do this because my body needs excercise and also because I feel so lost when I go to the YMCA. All I do is hop on the treadmill for like 15 minutes and do like halfass strength training that feels like nothing but bulky muscle machines. I burned 340 calories in 30 minutes on my FIRST try of Curves which I thought was great! They have a smart machine that tracks your progress on every machine and tells you how many calories you burned, etc- very extensive. I literally thought I was going to vomit while working out that's how good of a workout it was! I'm proud of myself for being excited and going in and giving it the best I could. I am going to make the switch from the Y over to Curves and think it will be a great investment.

On a sad note- I had clothes on and had just drank about 20 oz of water so my weight was about 2 pounds heavier at Curves, but anyhow- My body fat % is horrible= 40% and my BMI is horrible too (which I knew) 37%. I knew my BMI was bad, but my % of body fat has got to go down!!! I'm really scared! I guess I need to be! :-( My first goal is body fat of 28% and see where I am then. I still very like throwing up!

I have yet to try Curves but I hear it is a wonderful way to burn calories fast without getting burned out. And like you said, they tell you what to do, etc and you wont feel lost in there. I hope you enjoy it. Have a good weekend.

I did curves for 2 years and I routinely burned 500+ calories per workout. The only thing I should caution you about is to be sure that you WILL use it and get your money worth. You cannot cancel the membership before 1 year. Even if you stop going, they keep taking the money from your account for 12 months. It is there in the fine print. The only way you can cancel before the year is up is with a note from your doctor. I found this out the hard way when I offered to pay for a membership for one of my employees who was diagnosed with diabetes. I was going and I knew it would be good for her. I signed her up and she only went a couple of times then stopped. I tried to cancel her membership, but they pointed out that it was a 1 year membership. I had to pay the entire year out, either in one go or monthly as originally signed up. Either way, they were getting their 12 months out of me. That is when they told me about the Dr note. Unfortunately, she did not get one because there was no valid reason she couldn't work out, so it cost me a full year membership for nothing.

Curves sounds great for you Shea. Don't worry about the BF%. It's good to record it as a place to start, and then watch when it goes down. Mine was like 49% in May of last year. It's around 32% now. It gets better. On a separate note, I'm so glad you're doing fish oil. It's so good for you. And your wild roots flaxseed sounds great. You're doing great.

Thank you, Heather! Yes, because my diet is kind of high in fat and because of all the nutritional value to the fish oil, I take 2 capsules a day. I need it, badly! Currently, I have not found anything to put my flaxseed in (I've had it sitting in pantry) so when I get my protein supps in the mail- I think I will make smoothies and throw in some flax. Thanks again, I hope to make myself proud and in a silly way- you proud since I am following in your healthy eating footsteps! :-)
