I did it! I tried my first Orange Theory class and lived to tell about it! I'm not even TOO sore today!
Boy, was it out of my comfort zone! Tuesday was a sleepless night because the video of their first class showed nothing but fit people and I was dreading going. I put on my workout clothes early in the day and tried to psych myself up for it.
Turns out there were 2 fellow fatties in my class and I even chatted with a few people while we waited to start.
As it began, I was whisked away and put on a rower for the first time in my life. Once I had oriented, I quickly rushed to the strength floor to start on a circuit. At first I tried to keep up but soon realized that everyone was too busy doing their own thing and it didn't matter as long as I kept moving. I completed 2.5 of the first 'block' where the goal was at least 2. By this point, I wanted to quit. I was desperately looking around at the monitors to figure out if/when we got a break.
The second set of exercises were tougher, more rowing and I completed 1.5 out of 3 rotations. At one point I almost cried when the trainer stopped by to tell me I was strong and the super fit chick beside me cheered me on.
Next it was on to the treadmills. I used my first few minutes to take it down a notch while still moving. During the intervals I made it up to an incline of 10 - something I would've never dreamed possible!
They want you to exercise in the orange zone for at least 12 minutes and I spent 50/55 there" or above. So yes, I'm out of shape but I worked just as hard as everyone else.
All-in-all the class was a challenge. Time passes quickly. It truly is adaptable for everyone. I can't say I loved it but I will give it another shot tomorrow! Call me crazy!
