I was doing so well! So needless to say I blew it this weekend. How does everyone stay on Atkins while in a social setting, at parties etc. I do fine with myself, close friends and family. Its when I am in a setting where the only food served is food I shouldn't eat, and shouldn't drink. How does one drink alcohol on this diet. I know its not recommended, but really. If you all of sudden people don't see you with a beer in a hand there is something wrong with you, or not eating what is served to you! Frustrating! Help!

Potlucks bring some a dish to share that you can eat, if at a catered event let the host know of your dietary restrictions, pick and choose at a buffet. Always carry almonds with you in ziplock bags just in case there isn't anything you can eat. Eat a snack before you go so you are not ravenous when you get to the party and pig out. During the summer my husband and I went to a party and the only thing i could eat was pickled greenbeans and okra I should have offered to bring something, my dad's birthday was catered at a restaurant i picked and chose what I would eat at the buffet part and the host knew before hand of my dietary restrictions so we figured a meal out that I could eat. You shouldn't feel pressured to have a drink if you don't want one. I use to get that from friends when I was younger. One guy asked me how I can have fun if I wasn't drinking. It can be frustrating sometimes but with some planning on your part you will be able to get through it.

eat a full meal before you go. usually if its nibbles there will at least be cheese and olives and salami (hopefully!) if it is sit down dinner bit easier to order. have a diet coke or soda water with twist of lemon - at least you are holding a glass like everyone else! take snacks with you like veghead suggested. and just know that there is a MUCH bigger picture going on than eating the wrong foods and caving in to alcohol all for the sake of a few hours with some friends!

very true! thank you! Do I need to start over with induction? I am still in kitosis! I was very surprised! or can I eat like I have been? I don't eat too many carbs as it is. but I do like to eat my peanut butter!
