Thought you might be without power when we didn't hear from you yesterday. Glad it is back on for you. Good news - when my husband was coming back from NY he met an army of utility trucks heading your way. 

Yes, Buffy. No dieting gets done when you can't cook - chips, pretzels and junk food and sandwiches were served in the building. I threw out mayo and hamburger and some salad dressing but most of my food is OK - yes with so many people w/o power it is going to take quite a few days to get it all restored and it is not summer it is cold here already... 

No appointment today - it has been canceled - I got through to the other office down near Springfield, the doctor is down there in the morning then up here in the afternoons... Last night they used generators at work... Bruce left messages, he was up in the middle of the night but I had no phone either. Only Verizon was working for some time, the other providers were out... 

Many, many trees damaged in this storm. I went on the bus to the store and some trees lost most of their branches. I think a lot of trees will be chopped down next spring and replanted - there is lots of damage.... not as bad as a hurricane but worse than I have ever seen it here... otherwise doing OK so grateful power is on, we take it for granted. But I did have some intellectual conversations with some neighbors. One neighbor makes a living solely off playing on-line poker - he is that good - he knows how to estimate the odds, etc. Another young man is quite brilliant and we get along quite well, he has ancestors who came over on the Mayflower, my dad's mom dad was a direct male descendant of Peter Brown, who came over in the second wave of ships... 

I just looked up Peter Browne, he was on the Mayflower so I am a Mayflower descendant, I did not know this until I just checked... anyway, I had read years ago he came on the second ship out - but Wikipedia has him as one of those going on the original Mayflower. We learn something every day... 

I don't know how, however - my great-grandfather could have been a direct descendant as he had no sons apparently... once I get published I will get my dad's mom' family tree done, it is very varied.  

Anyway, lucky to have power here. Many people I know are still out, it may be a week or longer...hope everyone has a good evening... 

Hi Glenn, so sorry your having snow..I hate the stuff my self...got back yesterday from seeing my sister and the mountain I have to go over had some snow on it but not the roads..thank goodness..Sunday was a good day to travel so got my self home..it is cold here as well but at least we don't expect any bad weather for a few days..stay warm and catch you later....☺ 

Hi Bren - Hi, yes - some people will be without power many days. My twin sister got it back yesterday, but she is right near the high school in her town. Anyway, the city of Springfield, Mass. has closed school for a WEEK. It is bad in this region, many schools w/o power so they can't open them. Some towns canceled Halloween too till there's power. Have a good evening... a female friend has nowhere to crash as her power is out - should get the neighbors gossiping since I have to let her in and there is a camera the tenants see downstairs...  

Were you able to reschedule your appointment? I like snow just not everything that comes along with it such as icy roads, wind, cold, putting chains on the car, power outages and the rest. Glad that your power is back on. Happy Halloween! 

Hi veghead, I called this morning and their computer is still down at the doctor's office, though they do have power now. Many people in the region are still w/o power so lots of schools are closed as they have no power yet...
