So does anybody know how to start looking at food as fuel? People without weight problems always talk about that. How can they "shut off" the taste, smell, texture or even just the thoughts of food? I don't know how they do it but I'm open to suggestions! I wish that I could "see" food differently but I'm unaware of how to rewire my brain.

I like to think of it like this: Lets say you own a brand new Ferrari. It's valued at $300,000 and the manufacturer insists you use PREMIUM fuel only. Failure to use good quality fuel puts you at risk of engine damage. Not much damage at first, but over time your engine will start to have trouble. Now put a value on your body. It carries you through life, and anyone who gets sick or loses their health will remind you that a healthy, functioning body is the most priceless thing you could ever own. It's worth a great deal more than $300,000. Yet, somehow people see fit to put whatever fuel suits them in it, when they know that damage they may cause over time is far worse than some engine trouble. I know so many guys that take better care of their cars than they do themselves. So, for me, a daily reminder that my body is a priceless asset - the most valuable thing I will EVER own, keeps the desire for the momentary pleasure of taste! Hope these thoughts help!

I have abused my body so much over the years that I've reached the point where my blood sugar, cholesterol levels, bone density, etc. are all gone to hell. I have one more chance to stop some of the damage I've done. When I see the garlic bread, noodles, or whatever, I realize it is not "real food" but poison. I don't want to live using a walker to get around, taking insulin shots and a handful of other meds just to keep me alive. I've been given one last chance and I'm not going to blow it!

This has somewhat happened to me. I have finally gotten to the point to realize that I don't need all of the junk, I don't crave it anymore, I don't want it anymore. Once you get it out of your system I think you brain will automatically sense that that it isn't good for you and you will no longer want it. With the amount of exercise I am doing good food helps to refuel my body so I can do even more exercise. I know for a fact that if I was workout out like I am and living on fast food, there is no way that I would have been able to go as far as I have, I would have burned out a long time ago, so I do see food (GOOD FOOD) as fuel.
