My wife is an RN and works at a small hospital 30 miles from our home. Last night while at work she got a pizza delivered from Pizza Hut. This morning she brought home the leftovers. Now pizza is one of my top five favorite foods, but I don't eat it because of my diabetes. However, I really wanted a slice or two. I decided to see if there was a way to find out the nutritional information on a slice, so I Googled "Pizza Hut nutritional facts" figuring I would get a chart at most. I was very surprised to find that Pizza Hut has an online calculator for their nutritional information! I was pleased and was able to get the facts I needed to be able to determine the insulin I would need to take so I could have two slices (which was within my meal carb requirements).

I also got curious and checked, Dominos has an online calculator as well.

It was darn good tasting pizza too.

You have a point, revile, but I think I would accept the company numbers for a couple of reasons: 1) there are so many "secret recipes," I'm not sure you could make sure you don't miss any ingredients, and 2) the government has made such a big deal about requiring the nutritional numbers, that the restaurants would be less likely to fudge the numbers. (Of course, that's what we thought about VW, too, right??? Lol

I am blessed and do not have diabetes, in spite of family history of Type 2 and in spite of many years weighing far to much -- so understand I speak from that perspective: Fat, sugar, carbs make things taste luscious and filling. And if you are lucky enough not to have to worry about balancing insulin, the relative "badness" of pizza and ice cream isn't really relevant. None of us got fat from eating a couple of pieces of pizza every few months or even a dish of ice cream once a week. So if we want a dish of ice cream or a piece of pizza, occasionally as a treat -- it's OK. In my humble opinion, it's unrealistic to think we will never eat any of these things again. For the past 2 years, I've had IBS, and since July 2015, I've followed the FODMAP diet to prevent IBS attacks. That means, I don't eat pasta or pizza or cake or pie or ice cream or cookies or mac & cheese or chili or just about anything except plain lean proteins, lactose-free dairy, and a narrow selection of fruits, vegetables, and gluten-free grains. But every so often, I just can't stand anymore and I plan a trip for some luscious dish that I know is going to make me sick. But the point is, I plan for it, and it's only one meal -- not a day or a week off. And I accept: That's the way I have to eat the rest of my life. And still I feel lucky...

If you go to the top left corner where the 3 lines are that bring your drop down menu, then scroll down to restaurants, on the main menu of this app you can look up and get all your information on what you're eating at countless restaurants. They basically put all the main restaurant menus on it and you can even see what 1 slice of Pizza Hut Pizza has in nutrition. Very cool. My wife did it when we went out to eat at Olive Garden. Let's just say the Tour of Italy wasn't very healthy but it was sooooo good! :-) Pretty handy app.

Revilo Semaj -- I have to admit though, every couple of months I have what I call a "food fit." I get an overwhelming craving for a piece of chocolate fudge cake or some French fries. But as time goes by, I find that these indulgences don't taste as good as they used to -- except, of course, for ice cream, which still tastes heavenly even though it about kills me unless I make it at home from lactose-free dairy!
