Today I have been running for the first time after a couple of years.
I went running with a friend of mine who's about 200 pounds. He is way more fit than me.
I run a bit more than half of the 3.5km circuit. I had to stop because I was coughing my lungs out.
Well, I felt so out of shape...on the other hand it's a good result, considering 3 months ago I wasn't able to walk 20 meters without having to stop in order to breathe. That's the effect of two surgeries in two days in a row, both in general anesthesia.
Yes, I never felt so weak in my life as those weeks before and after surgery.
I still have nightmares about the second surgery. After I woke up I was awake all night, looking at my extremely low pressure on the monitor, not being able to move because I had sensors and infusions all over my body, just waiting for the nurse to replace my infusions every hour. I hope at some point I will stop remembering how I felt that day.

Tonight my partner insisted on cooking. She cooked leech with milk and bacon, but put so much salt that none of us was able to eat. Besides of that she cooked some fish. The amount of salt was okay, till I ate a bite where all the salt was.
She also doesn't want me to supervise while she's cooking and doesn't listen to my advice.
Any suggestions about how to deal with this matter in a sensitive way?

Yes, surgery is the worst, isn't it? It's like a mack truck ran over you. You did good with the running though. I'm impressed. Next time you go out running, it will be that much better. Gosh no idea how to deal with partner cooking. Not a problem that I have since my bf doesn't even boil water. But he does do a fair bit of supervising in any case. Maybe you could suggest she could without salt at all, so each of you could adjust your own. Tell her because it makes you retain water, you'd like to watch your intake.

Lizzie hi. You ask for suggestions on how to deal with the matter in a sensitive way but your answer is in the previous sentence "she doesn't want me to supervise while she's cooking and doesn't listen to my advice". Maybe you could just leave her to it and let her make her own mistakes. Maybe you could use the time to go out for another run or do a few squats or something.

@Helewis: yes, surgery is the worst. Tomorrow I will go swimming and hope to last for 1km as last time. I will go running for sure next Tuesday, if the weather keeps on being as warm as today I will go running on the weekend as well. I don't know what happened to German winter but it's the second in a row for me that's way too warm. I will try to monitor salt intake the next days. I love salt and use way more than I should

me too. i love salt. Have a great swim, and be happy about that warm weather. I was hoping ours would stay warm, but we got that major snow.

@Mamachickpea: you are right, I have to try that technique of letting her do her own mistakes and then maybe she'll listen to me. The first time ever she cooked for me she made a spicy bananabroccoli soup, besides of tasting really bad, my stomach was messed up for a couple of days... I still love her :-)

Before Christmas it was very warm. We got snow a couple weeks ago, and now it's like 10Celsius (basically it's springtime) and it's supposed to stay so till next week. The first winter I lived here it was -25Celsius and snow never melt from October till April.
