Somebody Else's Journal, 09 March 2024

Had quite the ordeal recently, long story short. Led to an operation and a 6-week recovery. I ended up losing a load of weight. I'm eating better now. I seem to have settled on 15.5st, but I'm hoping to go further down, when I'm fully back to health. Figured I'd log it, for old time's sake.

Also, I moved. I'm somewhere better now, not isolated and, while it's comparatively naff for going out walking (mostly busy roads now), I do wind up regularly walking to get around to where I need to, sometimes a lot in the same day. So, living a healthier lifestyle now.

Oh, and I learned of something called FODMAP, so I've been avoiding dodgy foods that make my guts act up (think IBS) and so far I'm noticing an improvement. If you have gut issues, like me, you should look it up; really interesting and helpful stuff.

For anyone struggling with food, really seriously evaluate your portion sizes. I say this because a large part of why I got so heavy (still am, I know) was due to absurd portion sizes. Thing is, it went on so long that I normalized it. Since I got ill and went to hospital, I physically couldn't eat much, which went on for long enough that I realised all of this.
