I've always heard cranberry juice is good for a UTI, but don't know from experience. What I do know is that Alka-Seltzer or baking soda water will help. The PH of the Alka-Seltzer counters the acid in the urine and eliminates the burning and urgency. My doctor gave me this little piece of wisdom many years ago. If you catch it early this will handle it, if it is too far along it will at least keep you comfortable until you can get some antibiotics.

The cranberry pills you can get wherever they sell vitamins has helped me in the past.

Cranberry juice will help a UTI -- its cleansing to the kidney and bladder, and will make you pee (a lot). Will it cure it? probably not. But it does offer a detoxing/cleansing period when you most definitely need it.

My doc actually told me cranberry juice can make it worse, since the acid in fruit juices can make the urine more acidic, so it burns more. I drank 2-3l of goldenrod and birch leave tea to support my kidneys and bladder in flushing and healing. It also relieves cramps. Tastes awful though!
