Shrinking Sonya's Journal, 30 September 2009

Well how surprised was I when I weighed last night with my family and lost 3 lbs! I had been hovering over the same weight all week and really didn't think I'd lost at all. I guess adding some weights into my workout routine at the gym kinda mixed it up and paid off in the long run. I think I'll continue trying to mix it up in the gym, alternating from weights to cardio, and vice versa. I hope I can get one of the trainers at the gym to give me some tips. I've gone to the same gym for years and am comfortable there, but there are some weight machines I'm not exactly sure how to use. Just a few of them though! I used to work out with my brother and he ALWAYS made me do weights so I've done them a lot just not a lot on my own. I wish I could go to the gym every day, but my schedule (and theirs) doesn't work that way. So... tonight I'm taking a break for church and I'll probably go tomorrow morning to the gym so we can take the kids to Cloudy with a chance of meatballs tomorrow night. It's hard to juggle a new marriage, 3 new stepkids, a fast-paced career (including going to school for my insurance licenses), church, AND trying to get in shape. With the help of the Lord, it is becoming easier. :)

You are a busy woman! Think of how much easier it is to balance things now that you have more energy.

Awesome, Sonya!!! You and I have the same problem - we fall in to the trap of weighing ourselves WAY too often...lol. It gets addicting after a while to get on that scale because you're hoping so badly to see that number drop some more. My husband has to practically yell at me somedays not to get on it again and sometimes I catch myself sneaking a quick weigh-in. It's like a guilty pleasure...lol. BUT I try to tell myself that even if I sneak in a weigh-in and whether it's good or bad, when it's not time, it doesn't count or get written down anywhere. The official is Monday morning at 7am and that's that! Also I'm glad you mentioned God in your post. Sometimes I rely on him heavily through this process and other times it seems I forget that he can help me through some of this. The power of prayer is amazing. And I agree with aliciamouse, YOU are a busy woman! But she is very right. I'm extremely busy too and before my diet/exercise, I was so exhausted all of the time. I would fall asleep anywhere that I sat still for more than 30 seconds. I was thinking about that just this morning. I really am very re-energized! My son is cutting molars right now so my sleep for the last 2 weeks has been really sporadic but I'm ok. 2 months ago, I would have been falling asleep all over my desk at work...lol. Anyway, sorry for yacking forever. It's so nice to chat on here because people understand what you're going through on your weight loss journey. :)
