Debbie Cousins's Journal, 08 December 2023

I’ve been being SO bad this week! My average daily calories is almost 3,000/day. What was I thinking making this Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake?!!! My sleep schedule has been WAY off! I’ve only been walking one mile a day. The only water I’ve been drinking is one swallow a day when I take my evening meds. I’ve been downing about a dozen cans of Diet Coke a day! I’m officially out of control!

The only redeeming things in my life are that I’m on schedule for my reading “Through the Bible in a Year,” and I’m learning how to play the piano. Oh, and I’ve been keeping my dishes washed, I got my Christmas cards in the mail the day before Thanksgiving, the Christmas tree is up and decorated, and all presents are bought, wrapped, and under the tree.

Debbie, I have no business offering advice as I am not doing great myself. Nevertheless : While you’re reading, remember 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.

Broccolibabe, yes, you’re right. Basically ZERO fruits or vegetables lately. It’s a good time of year to start adding back in the butter beans - thanks for the reminder. Lastisbest and TomLong, thanks for the Biblical reminders! YearofHealth2023, I think you’re right about the self-sabotage. I think part of the problem is that I actually feel pretty comfortable with my weight at around 180. I get compliments all the time at church on how much I’ve lost and how good I look. (Really, it’s just because I finally stopped wearing the too-big 2x and 1x clothes, and started wearing much more flattering 14-16.). I will NOT allow myself to get over 185! I know I can turn things around and re-lose the weight and get back under 180 pretty easily by just increasing the walking and sticking to 1,800 calories a day. God bless all of you for your encouragement!
