DairyKing's Journal, 25 August 2015

Good Morning, FS Warriors! The cool weather continues in Central Illinois - mid 50's this morning. It is supposed to heat back up next week, but we are enjoying the mild mid-day 70's weather, especially at this time of year. DW wasn't feeling well last night, and I had to run some errands. She wanted one of the Buttermilk Chicken sandwiches from McDonalds, so I not only picked one up for her, but I picked two up for me. Haha; some habits just don't die easily. I did not get fries though. The sandwiches are pretty good - with a big slice of mater - at about 640 calories each. That's all I ate last night, so it could have been worse.

After taking care of all the animals and selecting the songs for Sunday's service, I got out the Fender and practiced for a couple hours. I usually play an acoustic guitar, but I'm not prejudiced. I like em all! Well, here's wishing you all a great day, and a wonamous evening. Toodles!

We have the same cool weather in Ohio, I'm not loving it. Cool is inevitably coming, I'd like some warm lol. That is a very calorie dense sandwich, but like you said could have been worse. My big opposition to getting fast food is that I could have so much other food for the calories in one sandwich. I look at calories like money that I have to spend, and it feels like I'm getting ripped off spending so much on one sandwich lol. Have a wonderful day, DK!

You are right, Yolanda! The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. :( I thought about that at the time, but it didn't stop me. At the very least, I should have had only one . . . but I was cooking last night, and was afraid I'd starve to death. Yeah, I could have had a big juicy steak for all those calories! Dang!

Love your posts! I grew up in Illinois! I am in Montana now. Got a small acreage a few chickens and am a gardening and landscape addict. Always doing some sort of project too!

It was in the 50's here too in the Virginia mountains. It's too cool! The daytime temps were fantastic, though. Nice breezes and in the 70's. I doubt we are ready for the fall yet, though. I promise you won't starve DK! LOL! You could have cooked steak ... for real! Ha Ha! Even a burger on the grill would have been lower in calories, I betcha. Get your mind in the game and you will do great! It's hard getting back in the groove. I am still trying to find my groove, too. I think eating out could be the worst thing to do when starting on a weight loss regime of any kind. We are all in this together. Let's do this! Roarrrrrrr!

Thanks, Guys! I need to do more like lulani, and get outside and away from the kitchen - or the fast food restaurants I have a house full of food; never has been a need to go to the fast food restaurants. It's ridiculous that this is such a struggle; just one pound a week would put me in great shape at the end of the year, and that is so doable. I'm like a teenager though; I want it now!

Oh, DairyKing, I'm a "Want It Now!" person too. While at DD's house while watching the boys I covered a cake with a kitchen towel so I wouldn't be looking at it. It's not even my kind of cake and I still wanted it! Out of sight, out of mind! It has gotten easier driving by the fast food drive thru's now but IF I had to go for someone else... I'm thinking the devil would get me there!

I am so with you, Kattay! I put my hand in front of my face so I don't see the food, but my fingers are parted. Haha! But it's not hopeless, you have proven that it can be done. It's kind of like riding a Harley, the journey is the destination.

McDonald's or BK are the last places that would tempt me now Taco Bell and Wendy's would be pulling on my salivary glands hard.
