Debbie Cousins's Journal, 10 May 2023

On April 21st, I stepped into Onderland at 199.8. It was just a day visit, and I immediately went back to the 200’s. Today, May 10th, I’ve packed my bags, and I’m moving into Onderland to stay. PTL weight this morning was 199.0.

Plan to continue having low-calorie days until the Sunday Mother’s Day luncheon. A major change I’ve made is only having ONE breakfast. For several months now, I’ve been eating a bowl of doctored oatmeal (raisins, pecans, butter, sugar, milk) AND a slice of Dave’s Killer Good Seed bread toasted with 166 calories worth of butter (23g). Now, I’m alternating days and having just one of them a day. I still get both, but only one at a time, and then the next day I get the other.

I’ve also stopped eating during the night. When I’d wake up to pee, I was eating an 80-calorie dinner roll with 66 calories of butter on it - 146 extra calories!

Hoping the Lord will continue to give me the willpower to continue with these better habits! Now, if only I can rein-in the Diet Coke drinking. I’m downing 5-6 cans a day. But, the past three days, I’ve also been drinking 3-4 16-oz bottles of water. Baby steps!

I love the water change! Have you considered making yourself lemon 🍋 water to keep in the fridge? It’s the way I survive life in this world. Lemon 🍋or lime or 🍏 apple or any fruit. 🍉 Hurray for ONEderland!!! Like shirfleur1 said.

Great work! You are thinking about changes to help you get there. I have the same problem at night when I get up and want to eat something. The more I tell myself no the more my belly rumbles. You got this!

I am striving for Onderland. Kudos to you for getting there. I switched to drinking artesian water. Yes, it is more than other water but it is a splurge that I deserve! I thought I imagined that it tasted better until my brother told me it was the best-tasting water in his opinion too. Treat yourself - pick up a six-pack of Fiji water and have that instead of the diet soda. You may think it is worth it too. Diet soda is not your friend. Keep up the good work and congrats on reaching Onderland.

I stopped drinking diet sodas when I was told the sweetener turned to formaldehyde in your system. Which basically meant I was embalming myself while I was still alive. I haven’t drank a diet soda since!

Well done on reaching Onederland again. All those small positive changes add up eventually, so keep up the great work. 👏

Congratulations on ONEderland. Your new choices of only one breakfast and not eating during the night are "ONEderful." Retired Nana of 5 is absolutely correct about the sweetener turning to formaldehyde in your body. Also, it is an excitotoxin that affects the brain leading to dementia. I am afraid for you. It also kills up to 50% of the friendly bacteria in your gut. Wow, dangerous stuff. The world needs you and your precious brain. Happy Mother's Day on Sunday.

Maybe you can try Pellegrino or Perrier to satisfy the “carbonation-fix” you get with sodas, but drinking water. 🌺
