Switching to Zone part-time. It's too much animal protein all of a sudden. I'm dehydrated. Constantly. I drink so much water I wake up a few times a night because my bladder is so full it's painful. And even drinking that much, I'm still thirsty all the time. It's also that burning fat is a dehydrating process. I know that if I toughed it out, and measured body composition in a month, I'd see fat loss and muscle gain and all that. But at what quality of life? My whole reason to be leaner is to run better and without injury. I'll be having a little rice or potatoes with my vegetables after my morning run, and leaving the protein for later in the day. If I only lose .5 - 1.5/wk instead of 2.5+, that is fine. It's about healthy and happy and respecting my body.

The Zone Diet. 40-30-30. I was vegan and then started eating chicken and wild salmon. Being vegan was hard on my body because I am also gluten intolerant and have a legume allergy (can't eat beans, including soy). I run 20-30 miles per week and bike commute. I was feeling it. So I started eating chicken and salmon and decided to do The Zone because it's worked for me in the past. The fat burning (what I believe to be fat burning) is intense and dehydrating. I'm not really hungry, even eating less than 1500 calories with my running schedule, but I am incredibly thirsty. So I'm switching it up a little.

That's actually kind of scary that you are that thirsty. Does diabetes run in your family? Please be careful.
