So I decided to start making my boyfriend lunch every day. I bought Applegate farm cold cuts. Low carb Pita bread and organic mixed green salad mix. I am getting a little fed up with our unhealthy habits. I also feed off of him. If he is tired and lazy..it effects me and my diet. I am also kind of fed up with him being so unhealthy.(he has a good chance of getting diabetes) Its almost scary. If this is the man I am going to marry someday...I don't want to end up living a majority of my life without him because he could end up with a stroke or some sort of illness because he eats SO BAD daily. Dinner and weekends are okay because he eats what I make. Its when he is at work. He orders an egg sandwich or French toast in the morning.. Lunch is typically pizza . So I took it upon my self to make him lunch during the week. I make him a low carb flax organic sandwich, a bag of raw veggies and a piece of dark chocolate.

I know I cannot control him and I cannot make him have the motivation to change but at least I can be an example and help

He did take the lunch I made for him. He said it was good. He also is happy to save money daily by bringing lunch...

I am so sorry for the loss of your brother! I see what my boyfriend's grandmother goes through with diabetes day to day and I do not want him to deal with that to. I want a fun and action packed future with him. And yes little changes early on can make a big difference in the future. I hope this is just once step towards better health for the both of us.

Hes one lucky man lol. Its always best if both of you are eating similar foods. My wife and i do eat well during the work week routine but weekends are a problem especially during socialising and sports events.I tend to go bit crazy on beer chips and chocolates lol. Ive given up smoking 4 years now and have 6 to 7 small meals a day. My biggest evil is sugar which i have to constantly fight. Good luck and stay motivated xx

I agree, the week day routine is easier to stick to. He did great yesterday and ended it with a bowl of ice cream. I have a small bite but left it at that. I figure to wean him into a good lifestyle slowly, because if its forced people tend to recoil. So hopefully if me helping him eat a healthy lunch and dinner help him shed some weight he will be more willing to cut out the snacks.. Weekends are not terrible specially if I cook- he will always opt to eat what I make. If we go to a diner on weekends its hard because he will want a waffle... LOL

URGHHHH that is the worst part!!! Its like that for me and my co workers. We will get a gift box of chocolate or cookies...no one wants to be the first one to open the box. It will stay closed until some brave person opens the seal..then everyone eats the treats. I tend to avoid this as much as possible but chocolate is my major weakness

I think you have the right balance of trying to be helpful, but also recognizing that your motivation might not be his. My husband says I get most critical of his habits when I'm frustrated by mine. He's got a point, but it's also true that we're affected by our partners. So maybe encourage small changes like lunches a few times a week (to create a healthier lifestyle for both of you), but not expect him to suddenly completely alter his eating habits.

@Woperchild You have a great point with being more critical of your partner's habits when you are frustrated with your own. I do see that in myself at times. This week after looking in the mirror and noticed how I am unhappy with how I look compared to two years ago. I really started to analyze my boyfriend and I's day to day life. I guess I got a little bit upset and now I am trying to change things. But I plan to be smart and go little by little. I do not want to overwhelm him. For instance, I want us to get into MMA training at the local dojo my boyfriend used to train at. He LOVED training MMA. That is what kept him in shape. Then after a few months of dating me he quit because he found work got in the way and then wanting to spend time with me. My hope is to finally get him back in the dojo and I sign up with him and we can do classes together. (plus im dying to get out of our typical after work routine...I am not a big watching TV fan)

My partner used to drive me nuts eating ice cream and junk all the time. I did the shopping so I just started switching them out for healthier stuff for her. She complained at first and it was trial and error which foods she would eat but eventually we found a happy medium.

Yeah my boyfriend does sometimes buy the bad stuff..and it would effect me cause I would want a taste..which turns into two..=[ But it takes time to see what your partner wants and likes..but its good to see you found a happy medium. That is key for couples to work towards better health together
