Sherillynn's Journal, 05 June 2011

Well, its been several days since I've entered anything in my journal. Talk about busy! I had to take one of the parrots to a Rescue yesterday. I felt just horrible about it but she was just too shrill for my husbands ears. The place was amazing though and I am praying they find her the perfect forever home. I hate to shuffle critters around but I guess when the choice is your marriage or the bird, then the bird needs rehoming.
This gentleman at the Iowa Parrot Rescue has about 100 birds. Many of them are very wild and will never be able to be placed as pets. They will live out their lives there. Some have been seized from drug raids or other abusive situations. Some came from a 900 bird seizure in TX! A few are pluckers or missing toes but he loves them all and it is obvious they are very well cared for. Accolades to him and his group. They made a very difficult situation for me a little bit easier and the work they do with these birds is fantastic. They even have veterinary students in to learn about birds, handling and care. I wish I would have taken pictures to post.
Today's projects will include working the bees and finishing the garden. I wish I had time to do all of the other things that need doing but its going to be tight. And I haven't had a nap yet on my days off so I am crabby! Middle aged women REALLY need their naps. Helps keep them from feeling homicidal according to a study in a certain Iowa household.
My husband is finishing up hay today so I am really glad that the rain has continued to hold out. I think I'll continue to save my official weigh in for just a few more days. I haven't even charted my food this weekend. Its just been gogogo. Luckily, I think I am within range on the carbs and calories so it shouldn't be problematic.
Well, its out to the garden.

Good morning, Sherill! I am so glad you were able to put your shrill parrot in a loving environment. I really admire people who have a calling to do this type of work. I hope you will be able to finish up on your garden today. Then take a much needed nap before we see you featured on Nancy Grace! Have a good day, my friend!

Good morning Sherill! Sure hope your day goes well and taht you get the chance to nap. I slept in this morning, as I wasn't feeling wuite up to snuff. Not sure why, but these things happen. Sorry to hear about your parrot, but so glad that you were able to find a place that will care for him and perhaps find the perfect place for him to live. The people who take care of animals like that are angels, and I have to agree with Pam, I sure do admire them. Sounds like you have been busy, busy, busy...hope that your garden gets finished and that the bees are happy! Have a wonderful Sunday! You are really close to Onederland!
