So the last couple of weeks I've slipped again. Not been weighing ny food, still trying to get in at least one decent walk but no other exercise. However, I've just been chatting with a friend who has got me a pair of scales to motivate me again with the promise that I'll pay her back when we meet up in January having each lost 3 stone. So target is 2lb a week, until we meet in January, about 25 weeks ish. 3 stone lighter and I'll pay her back for the scales. You probably all think I'm stupid but sometimes this is the motivation I need lol

Motivation is good. But as Nadia said, losing fat should make you happy and healthier. I think combining healthy eating with increasing activity (any activity) is the surest route to success. 2lb a week is a lot, especially over a long period. If you achieved half that, it would still be really good progress. Hope it all goes well for you.

New scales helped me focus on my goal. Seeing your progress can add to your motivation (as long as you remember that fluctuations can make the numbers go in the wrong direction sometimes😏). Its also great you have your friend as a diet buddy, hope you both enjoy getting and feeling healthier no matter what the scales are reading in January!🙂

I agree with Nadia and bearwood, it's a lot to lose 2lb per week EVERY week, that's a lot of pressure, stress is not good for weight loss, especially over a long period of time I set myself small achievable goals, weekly and monthly my first is to get from 172lbs to 148lbs. I've been working on this for 6 months and not quite there yet. 3st is a huge amount over 7 months I don't want to burst ur bubble but have to be realistic xx best of luck lovely xx

peteryheamazon, as much as I'd like to help, that is a huge task ur asking, it's a task in itself just recording everything on here without having to share elsewhere. Good luck, hope someone has the time and energy to help u xx

....its what works and having a friends backing is motivation enough...that's what friendship is about love and care. You are a lucky gal...😁

Ok am going to share one of my tricks to aid weigh loss …. Carbs at breakfast & lunch time no rice bread or pasta carbs from vegetables rye crisp bread and potatoes once or twice a week low carb life style if am really good have a scoop of ice cream I take sugar due to a medical issue ( hypoglycaemia) It may sound aggressive form of weigh loss but it really words & walking every other day hope this helps xx

I understand the concern of some others that you don't want to set goals too high, but...I have lost about 6 stone in 8 months (still 1 more to go), although I wasn't aiming (or even dared hope) for such quick results it is just how my body has done things. For the first few months I was doing zero exercise, not even walking, I was simply too overweight to do anything energetic (over 17 stone, at 5 foot 3 and a half, BMI 42). I think the second hardest part of weight loss is finding what works for you (the hardest part is being motivated-which you got covered🙂👍). If you have the time and inclination, look for Dr Becky Gillaspy on youtube and skim through some of her videos, her 0,1,2,3 plan was a great starting point for me. Unless you find something easy, enjoyable and effective it is not likely to keep you on track. (Dr Beckys three Es😁)

Thank you all for your comments! Definitely bearing in mind now that 3 stone in 7 months is optimistic so if I don't do 2lb a week hopefully I won't get too demotivated but definitely going to try it still while my motivation is high! Nadia so sorry to hear how difficult the last couple of months have been. Sincerely hope that things are on the up for you and it's bright happy colours moving forwards. Thank you for the exercise tips, definitely going to try and increase it over and above walking as I know it helps. Also the keto diet I will look into and low carbs (definitely a food group I need to reduce anyway!) devon dumpling you sound like you've had an amazing weight loss journey! Thank you for the dr Becky tip.
