Awesome day today!!
I have a new plan for working out. Did some exploring and have decided to join my school gym and hire a personal trainer for a month! I have definite goals I want to work on now--and now, more so than ever before, this investment will truly pay off!!! So, yeah, I'm getting excited!!!
I also have a new goal. I am committing myself to run in a race (probably 5k) by September. So all the energy will be focused on that from this point on. Today I did over 2 miles on the treadmill, with my 1st mile taking 13.9 mins. I have 3 sub-goals: 1) I want to run everyday atleast a mile
2) And slowly add in increasing the running time compared to the walking, thus to get it down to 10 mins a mile.
3) Increasing overall distance: starting with 2 miles walk/run to shoot for a 3.5 miles continuous running.
For all this to happen I know I'll need to keep water intake up and carbs definitely down.
Overall I did over two hours in the gym today. 30 mins treadmill, 30 mins bike (9 miles), 20 mins elliptical, 3 sets of bicep weights, and 100 crunches.
For meals, I had lovely colorful, nutritious, COMPLETE meals!!! It felt good!! Brunch: Spinach, feta, and basil egg omelette (with REAL eggs!) and coffee with creamer + sliced tomato/mozarella/olive oil/basil pre-gym snack: soy milk with protein powder, 4-5 walnut halves, 1 piece laughing cow cheese Dinner: Salad including lettuce, tomato, red onion, bell pepper Spaghetti with meatless crumbles and tofu shirataki noodles (very low points AND low carbs!) Garlic bread made of 1/2 flat out bread
To round off everything, I had an emotionally soothing day, getting my home cleaned, work stuff done, and the best part, hanging out with my best friend through all that!! Life's good!
p.s: I was trying to keep a tally of my carbs, but am thinking that's going to be a little "fruitless". I don't think I want to do a serious induction-type thing. I just want to keep my overall carbs lower, but still add in good stuff like fruits, tomato sauce/juice, lentils, beans/chilli etc. And those will relatively spike up the carbs, so there's no way I'm going to keep it down to 20 net carbs a day! So what?! With good workouts, these sensible diets should now begin my lifelong good eating process...not just about losing weight! [THIS IS TURNING OUT TO BE A PRETTY BIG EPIPHANY FOR ME AS I WRITE---NOT JUST A P.S!!!]
